(and I'm a little lazy so I didn't look tooo hard).. but chances are most of you are like me and have nothing better to do until summer, so post up your experiences with skitchin.. Best way to do it off the side / rear.. what can go wrong etc.. Thanx 's Maybe this can become a sticky.

Re: Skitchin

how come when I try doin it, my bike keeps going to the left?? (The side of the bike where I'm at.) This is on my GS500..

My best experience.. Learning how to skitch, get going, then couldn't find the foot peg to get back on the bike, so I start slowing down, then start running right beside the bike, and once I get a full stop, get happy that I"m still up and standing, then the bike leans away from me, and eventually falls, to which then I start cussing and Bizatching about my new bent brake lever :YEAH

Re: Skitchin

check it try it in a car first even in the rain get a feel for how much pressure you realy can put on the ground once your comfert is their go to the bike.
first go of the left steping of with you right foot leading from behind the left foot
keep most of your body on you r gas tank till you get nice with it
when you step back on start with your left foot infront of your right & bring it back to the left peg follow with the right around again
make sense?
its good to get down how you get on & off couse that is where the real problems are
watch my video around town on Bmorex.com & you should see what my feet are doiN

hahahah.. tried the car thing.. besides lookin' friggin stupid, it was actually fun.. I already knew the feeling anyways, but it was fun none th eless... Your advice really helped tho.. thanks=) what I used to do, was put left foot on the back peg, then right foot on front peg, (both onl eft side.) then go down left foot first. But your way is easier, since my right foot is my stornger foot. thanks bro ! ! ! !

Re: Skitchin

i was skeetching down highway 251 throu town and i was getting back on the bike and my foot slipped of the peg. so it it dragged me for about 50 feet but i manage to keep the bike upright so i just lifted myself up with my right arm on the gas tank, as soon a s i got my foot back on the peg the bike swerved left into the oncoming lane, i barely got control by the time traffic was coming. that sucked, my side hurt for a week

Re: Skitchin

Well i decided one day that i was gonna try and teach myself.

So i get rollin down the road at about 40, and i turn sideways and put my right foot on the left peg, then step down with the right foot, put my weight over the tank and then put my left foot down, goin ok for about a few seconds, and i decide to get back up on, put my right foot up and couldn't find the peg, so i made the mistake of lookin down to see where it was, so naturally the bike jacks to the left and i get all flustered, next thing i know my knees are draggin on the ground, and i know i'm gonna lose it, so i jack teh front brake to try to slow the bike down a lil bit, and next thing i know i'm slitin down the road on my stomache watchin my bike spin down the road on its side.

I never asked anyone how to do it, never got any pointers, just thought i could do it LOL

Word to the wise, always look foreward!!! the bike goes where ur head goes

Re: Skitchin

Yeah the hardest part about skitching is workin up the ***** to do it and then getting back on. Once you have that down you can go for the more advanced "bounce to seat" by kinda stomping on the ground and you basically get flung up onto the bike... tried it once... made it about half way up the bike and came back down. Luckily im usually able to keep the bike stable in "oh ****" situations.

Skitching is a cake walk once you do it about 4 times. Then you can switch it up and learn off the right side of the bike which feels really wierd/uncomfortable to most.

Re: Skitchin

Do you guys hold on to the handlebars when you do it? or is your arm all on the tank? And I wanna make shoe plates so I can be cool like in Biker boyz.
lmso.. they would be neat though.. what can you make em out of?

Re: Skitchin

ok, I didn't quite follow the explaination, what are you doing with your right foot? So is it infront or behind your left foot? and when do you put your left foot down?

even better when they do a backroll, into a skitch to the back... saw that one time, and I was like "aww hell naw I ain't tryin that sh!eT!"

Yea, I try to look forward, and my bike still keeps goin left for some reason. I guess I"M just scared to lean the other way, thinkin the bike would get away from me, and I'd drop it, and land on top of the hot engine (naked bike.) I think it would look sweet if I tried it off the back on my GS, since I have the passenger holder thingy lookin' like a car spoiler hangin off the back...

Something I thought, would be a nice new gen trick.. I've seen people doing wheelies while on the side of the bike. I wanna see someone doing a wheelie off of a left side skitch.. possible?? of course.. probable?? i dunno.. whatu think???
