Cage for F4i
Re: Cage for F4i
i have expierance with 905 and fi. heres the deal both cages work extremely well and both take hard hits. but if you go with the fi the extended sliders if you crash ahrd enuff will bend, thus bending the motor mount bolt, no big deal jsut hammer back to place. if u crash ahrd enuff it'll rip out the motormount threads, which you hafta to re-tap, kinda anooying had to do it twice. but the bike wont roll up and brake clips ons etc. if you get a 905 you wont do any mtotor mount damage at least not from my expierance, but the bike does roll up and brake clipons, and levers, etc easier.
so wat you do is order a 905, and prder fi extended sliders. then have sumone wled the sliders onto the cage, spray paint ova the weld and you have teh best cage out there.

i got a FI cage. And hes right, you will bend motor mount bolts, BUT Tim from FI did tell me that the new cages are a million times stronger and dont do that anymore. But mine is a old one and i bent the bolts pretty easy. BUT my left motor mount was stripped and the bolt us basically used as a "pin" so it wouldnt go anywhere and still crashed on it a bunch and still nothin happened, lol. The 905 ones look like they would be good but there REALLY big and thell roll up onto the tank and brake. So its a catch 22, i say, get a FI cage and weld a bracket from the slider back to the sub-frame mount so the slider CANT bend back!!!
Re: Cage for F4i
Cages are not tanks crash anything hard enough and the energy has to go somwhere. FI all the way! Had one on the 900 RR and just got one for the F4i soild stuff no problems with either or mine.
Re: Cage for F4i
Ive had two 905's and currently an MXD. I liked the 905's, they bend a little and give, the first was an old design and bent like butter, but did its job. The 2nd took over 50 wrecks, pretty hard ones too. Eventually it broke, but it did its job.
The MXD has yet to see a hard crash. It seems to be VERY strong, but is a little big. However, it does clear my shins very well, so its larger yet not as noticable as the 905. Personally i wish I had gone FI, I dont crash much anymore and all my crashes are slow and controlled 'drops', and for those, the FI seems to be the best choice.
