anybody wrecked with a dirtbike helmet on ?

i'm thinking f rocking a dirtbike helmet for this season.

i want to know if you guys have had some hard crashes with em on.

and if you ever had any injuries that you wouldnt have had if you had a regular helmet on.

also how bad is it on the freeway with it on ?

i rode with one for a few days but never wrecked but ya the highway sucked *** with no glasses or anything over ur eyes. i think it might be ok for wrecking slow stuff but probaly doesnt save ur head much at higher speeds...but wtf do i know

Re: anybody wrecked with a dirtbike helmet on ?

they are dot approved so they have met all the requirements to protect you on the highways. I just put on a pair of sunglasses with my helmet... (the one you have pictured in fact ). Only thing i can say is that it is a cheap *** bieffe (sp?) $30 so it can get kinda uncomfortable, but it does the job.... Obviously a more expensive helmet is gonna be more comfortable and lighter, smaller, etc. which can helpl reduce neck injuries but thats the case with any helmet. Oh yeah and at highspeeds the visor catchs alot of air sometimes and tries to rip your head off, price u pay for showing off! :YEAH

id say rock the DB helmet in lots and slow stuff but if your going on the highway youd probally want something that wont catch alot of air... ie, a normal riding helmet.

Re: anybody wrecked with a dirtbike helmet on ?

Just get a regular helmet and paint it the same or however you want. I personally would feel better with one meant for the highway and such and not just dirt. Isn't cold there though? a street helmet is going to be hella warmer and more wind deflective than dirt.
One other thing, I'm not sure but doesn't dot have different ratings, like it's dot aproved for a dirt bike but not for street or something? I'm not really sure though

Dude if its dot approved its "department of transportation approved" dot is only for the street. I believe the different ratings are the snell ratings. Yeah a dirt helmet on the highway in the winter can be cold but so what. I'm sure most people have a street helmet before they get a dirthelmet for street riding. If its that cold just put your street on and ride ur dirt in the summer. Quit being a **** ing puss just ride with it.

Re: anybody wrecked with a dirtbike helmet on ?

I saw some **** on tv the other day, and they were saying the differences between a Dot helmet and a Dot + Snell certified helmet.. And they said generally the snell is gonna have alot stiffer insides.. For high speed impacts, good, but for low speed, its gonna be more like a brick hitting your head...

Think it was on history channel
