929/954 Htev

I took my Arata off to send to someone to trade for an HTEV I am missing on my stock exhaust. Anyway is it safe to ride without the HTEV installed on my stock exhaust and just a hole there? It'll only be like that until I get it hooked up to the servo motor by a race mechanic 20 miles away.

if you have a hole there then yes. if you cover it up, then no.

Re: 929/954 Htev

So if there's a hole there I can ride it like it is but if I try to cover it up it'll be bad?

Re: 929/954 Htev

I think he's talking about the hole on the side of the whole unit that the actual pivoting valve guide whatever sits on. I removed my HTEV down in the exhaust and used a simple bolt, nut, washer and lockwasher to close the hole with some rtv around the washers too. WHen you remove the HTEV valve, the flange still has a hole on the side--I think he's talking about covering it up....??

No I just wanna ride it with the hole there for 20 miles to get the HTEV installed since I don't know where to connect it to.

Re: 929/954 Htev

I would'nt ride with the hole open---it would be pretty damn noisy, might make the bike run funny and water/dirt/moisture getting in the hole does'nt sound too appealing--

Re: 929/954 Htev

i said if you ride it with the HOLE then it's bad. if you cover the hole then it'll act just like a full exhaust system with no valve.

Re: 929/954 Htev

you can ride it 20 miles with the hole there its not going to damage anything, you could ride 10000 miles, just might be a little noisey and run a little ruff

Re: 929/954 Htev

Ok all I want to know is if it will damage the bike, I don't really care if it runs a little rough cause I'm going to get it fixed right away.
