rear tire wobble

When i get on one wheel @ 70+ mph my rear wheel starts wobbling. It doesnt scare the crap out of me because it starts happening slowly so I just bring it back down. I have a new dunlop 180 208zr in the back. anyone experiance this?

And how slow can you guys rock on stock gearing? I want to be able to keep it slow about 30-40mph.

Re: rear tire wobble

ive heard if you have a flat spot it will cause rear wobble, also if theres like a line in the road the tire will try to drive in it like its a train track..i run 20psi in my rear and its not a problem, you should be able to rock 1st gear at those speeds easy, just clutch it up from a lower speed

Re: rear tire wobble

There has been tons of these questions, try tire pressure first.
Maybe the position of your body has somthing to do with it.
Is your wheel alignment good?
I've seen people bring bikes up in a wobble and then straightens out, maybe it's the torque going to the rear wheel?

Re: rear tire wobble

probly flat spot, might even just be the road.. but either balancing, flat spot.. how long ago did ya buy it? if its flat spot, spin some tire maybe it'll even it out

Re: rear tire wobble

its speed woble , ive gotten it at about 80 and above, so i try to keep them slow, i can pull it up in second at 35-45 no prob with stock gearing on an 03 gsxr 600 you should be able to pull it up at like 30 and rock 40 to 45 mpr wheelies. your 750 should most deffinitly have more hp

Re: rear tire wobble

I only have about 100 miles on the tire that i ordered from dmt.com and payed 70$ to have it installed. there is a weight on the tire so I would imagine they balanced it. I'm going to tighten my chain up right now and see if that helps. there was about 2" of play on the bottom.

Re: rear tire wobble

Ive finally learned that i can bring up 2nd on my F2 when the bikes somewhat cold (clutch isnt hot) otherwise the clutch just slips like a ****, anywho i start gettin a good shake goin on at about 50-60 MPH but the road i mostly do it on is pretty crappy cause its wore in so bad that there are 2 groves in each lane where cars ride.. ***** crazy in the rain.

But does having a squared off tire and riding in these grooves cause this? cause i dont seem to get it when i do 1st gear wheelies, atleast not like my 2nd gears.

Re: rear tire wobble

Apparently the fkrs that installed my tire didnt straighten the rear axle. It was about 1/2 a mark off. Also the chain had a 2" play and the tire pressure was 37psi cold. Tightened up the chain and let out some air to 25psi. Did about 20 passes on a newly paved road (1/2 mile long) by my house and it stayed glued to the road.

Wish I can still do slower wheelies though. Instead of maybe holding it at 40mph for 5 seconds then have to get on it to keep it up till im going 70-80mph then i just let it down. I can keep it up for a while now about a good 1/4 - 1/3 mile. I think what happends is i bring it back to the bp then quickly let off the throttle a bit bike comes down then im back on it again When I get my win box back up i'll post some vids of me doing wheelieeeeeeeeeeees

Re: rear tire wobble

I have no problems with tire wobble so far, but I also have perfect tires. Doodles right, with stock gearing you can bring it up easy in first at those speeds just have to clutch it up harder so you don't waste revs getting it high enough.

Re: rear tire wobble

getting wobbles again. Did my first freeway wheelie yesterday. Clutched and bounced 3rd about 60mph. and was holding it for about 1/4 mile till i was going 80,85 then started wobbleing. My friend, Driving next to me said my rear tire was wobbleing about 8" side to side. well I still need to lear to keep it at the BP so i can hold em at any speed.

Re: rear tire wobble

Its not the tire, its not the chain, or the angle of the wind or the slope of the road or how many cookies you ate for lunch,, its you.. It comes from being unsmooth on the throttle..
