well darius and jason britton seem to have dented tanks but they look nice.
i'm not a pretty boy, my 954 is scarred, no headlight, foglights etc. so i dont wnat anyone to think im doing it fo rcosmetics, although th enicer something looks the better....

how do they get them dented in so nicely? i dont liek when it looks like "dents" hahaha, i want a smooth surface,..... pics of nice ones would be appreciated, its winter and i have to store the bike, so plan on making my own cage cause this powers one is ehhh, and a 12 bar and tank :YEAH

 

have one of your friends hold the bike and u do this.....

that works pretty good just remember to take the key out the gas tank first

 

if you can do good body work, take and cut out where you want the tank to start going in at. flip it upside down and weld it back in the same place. then cut around the gas cap and do the same thing, flip it upside down and weld it. do a little bondo work and a paint job and you got a smooth tank!!! i got some pics ill post them

 

you can jump on it like that,then get a rubber hammer to go over and smooth it all out.

That pic is the old School way. Start with that, use a rubber mallet to smooth it out and form it the way you want. Then for a clean surface throw a thin layer of bondo, sand and paint.

 

If you want it to look nice don't jump on it. Do it all with a good size rubber mallet. Start before the cap, close to the seat side and start working your way around the cap. Once you get the whole cap dented you can start working your way out. Go slowly and hit it a lot of times and it will look nice. I have people tell me all the time my looks like it's factory. After it's dented: skateboard grip tape. I cut out my design myself.

that'll leave ya walking for a little while lol... i started mine with a cloth then used rubber hammer to start it, then i stomped it a little then finished it with a rubber hammer to shape it.. no leaks or nothing

 

my tank is real clean. i first jumped on it to get the initial dent, then i used a rubber mallet to do the rest. start near the gas cap and work your way out.

 

I've seen some really smooth dents out there (dan Jacksons is mint) I tried and lost my patience. Its a little bit lumpy, but not bad.
