Quick 12 question

For those who 12. When you were learning how to 12 did you do sit downs first or did you stand up first? If you did them standing did you put your foot on the rear peg on the bar in the trunk?? What? I'm getting two different stories from people and i'm learning to 12 and would like to know. I tried them sitting down last night and scraped the bar, but when i tried them standing up i felt off balance, top heavy if you will. Tell me how you did them at first.

Re: Quick 12 question

I did em standing, with left foot on rear peg. I think its easier b/c u can just lean back when it hits idle and there u go. I want to learn sit down 12's the bike gets so wobbly tho.

Don't you feel really unbalanced when you are standing up though, or does it feel more comfortable once you bring it up??

Re: Quick 12 question

Personally standup 12vz are much easier to learn. It is also very easy to get away from the bike should something go wrong during that initial learning phase and trust me something will go wrong...

Yeah standing up will feel a little unbalanced for the first little while but that will get easier. Try butting your knees against the tank for a little more stability while u are getting ready to clutch it up. That seemed to help me.

When I started it was rear peg 12vz to start....Altho I gotta say that putting your foot in the trunk (subframe bar) feels alot easier now and def takes alot of weight off the arms...Not sure how that would of felt back in the day tho..

I dont think you can go wrong learning standups on the rear peg first...

But at the end of the day its all preference..

Cheers

SK

Re: Quick 12 question

Yeah It felt a little scary at first but u get over it. THat was a great point smurf killa. If u cant find the brake when you're learning. u just jump off if you're standing. If you are sitting it will be a lot harder to get away from the bike.

Oh I remembered another plus!!!! U CAN SEE WHERE U ARE GOING when u are standing unless you are short as hell like me
