Balance point.. not as obvious as I thought?

My perception is really bad apparently.. I can't tell when Im at balance point. I've always heard that you can definitely feel when you're there and it's a "floaty" feeling.. well I was doing some wheelies with friends today real briefly and I popped one up while they watched.. I could've sworn I wasn't up that high but they all claimed I was way past balance point (they thought I was going to loop) I didn't feel like I was anywhere near looping to be honest..
keep in mind these are 1st gear power wheelies.. still having trouble with 2nd gear standups but havent worked on them all that much yet.

I've never hit BP in a first gear, but a few times I have hit it in 2nd gear standing up. You can deffinatly feel it when standing up. My guess is the reason you didnt feel it is because you just kept going up and never really leveled the wheelie out. Try getting a video tape of yourself and you'll see how high exactly you are. I thought I was close to the BP while standing, saw a video, and realized I was no where even close.
balance point in 1st gear is attainable but you better be good with your rear brake when you grab too much throttle. The balance point is much easier to feel out in a 2nd or 3rd gear stander, its not as twitchy as in 1st gear. If you dont feel it in 2nd or 3rd its because you havent gotten there yet. Keep practicing those standups.
are your friends any good? do they wheelie at balance point?
inexperiencd riders who dont do wheelies are easily impressed and might think that your balance point is lower than it actually is. dont even bother trying to hit it in 1st , go straight to 2nd gear stand-ups. 1st are too risky for beginners , youre just askin to loop-it. and watchin a video of yourself is def. the way to go.

Without seeing yourself, easyest way I would say is that it's when your barely giving it any gas and staying at a steady speed. If your winding it out in one gear your not there yet.

virtually no throttle, and u WONT gain any speed
