Re: 1st gear idle tips

ya man, i got the same gearing, i got a handbrake just for the hell of it for the future, but i run staggard for right now. You know what helped me a lot lately is, instead of thinking about "not looping", get the feel of how much you twist the throttle and where the bike ends up.

For example, say you twist the throttle X amount and it brings you just under bp. now focus on twisting the same amount, but this time, a little more. So now Y amount is balance point.. Now focus on that amount of throttle again and add a little more, now Z amount, is past balance point. Now catch it with rear brake.

bam. now rear brake and throttle control.

that's basically where i'm at now!

EDIT:

I don't know why i'm trying to help, you wern't very helpful a couple weeks ago...

Re: 1st gear idle tips

Am at the same place and there is shitloads of stuff on stuntride about catching idle. Seat time seems to be the key to it.

Re: 1st gear idle tips

ya, everyone keeps saying that and it's true. It's weird... If you keep practicing, and keep trying, one day something clicks.. and you level up.. lol.. i'm not on a very high level, but i've deff felt those clicks and level ups!

And those clicks feel the best thing in the world. Cant stop for riding until the gas runs out.

Re: 1st gear idle tips

The trick seems to be to concentrate on getting the bike as high as possible from a stop or near stop so that your idle can pull the bike back and all you need to do is work the brake. If you have to work the throttle that's not only one more thing to worry about but ppl tend to be very choppy and chopping the throttle will destabilize the bike.

Again, think about clutching past balance to allow idle to pull you, then feather the rear brake to catch it. Idle usually isn't strong enough to lift the bike from below balance.

I know it's hard to not think about looping but that's just seat time. BP @ idle is higher than @ speed.

Keep practicing and good luck!

bro, i'm out there almost every day for 5+ hours a sesh, i've never left the lot with gas in my tank.. I'm at the point where me and my buddy bring a gas can and fill up 2 or 3 times a session, and i go home sweating every time. And i'm still a squid!! Just goes to show you gotta really work at it if you want it, i sure as hell am, and i still suck. I can't imagine how hard these dudes work to get their circles on lock.

Get those clicks son!
