Another A-town subframe help!!
Another A-town subframe help!!
Got my sub frame today and went to put it on and ran into some problems.
When these top holes line up

the bar underneath doesnt line up with anything

Yah no holes for the scrape bar!!

Didn't get any screws for this hole to hold up battery tray...stock ones dont look like they will fit.

So anyone have solutions?

Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
i never installed one but i seen a couple threads on the subject and it looks like you need to line up the holes closest to the battery to support it then use zipties for the back and if i remember correctly you need to get different mounting bolts too
Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
yeah i looked at the other threads been following those closely since i knew i was ordering one...cutting the tray went alright...just nothing lines up
Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
as long as you have the battery supported good zipties should take care of the rest , he should fix the design ,too many people having problems , they seem to love it once they get it mounted but the install has a few people pulling their hair out ..lol
Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
theres a tab on the front of the battery tray closest to the frame mounts that hits the mounting bolt. i trimmed a bunch of the tray and nothing worked until i trimmed that tab down. try that out atleast that was the case on mine.
i also trimmed of the rear of the tray just passed the crossbar in the pic
then basically went around the entire edge and made it narrower
hopefully this helps a little

Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
the stock one is 1/4in thick aluminum the aftermarket ones are 3/4in steel the problem is if you go wider to compensate for the tray your peg brackets move out ward and throw off the mount locations. ive made this as easy as it can possibly be. puttting it on for the first time is a bitch yes but once you get it you can do another in no time. the last one i put on took me 15min. from the pics the tray has to go forward about an inch. get the front bolts started in the tray then move you way back. i plan on doing a video on installing these and the 636 subbraces. Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
ya cant change it if it gets any wider no subcage will fit the subframe

Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
I cut mine right past all the wiring (ecu, tip sensor) and zip tied the tray up.....that stock tray is dumb as hell and idk why they put half the **** on there?
Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
thanks guys and Atown1101
So far... i got
put the bolts in then pull the tray and put the other set of bolts in for the top part of the tray.
subframes dont come with holes for scrape bars...to bad i dont have a drill!!
and the stock bolts should be good for the holes by the ATC

Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
. the thing is light strong and looks like a million bucks its my finest product i make. i kinda wish someone would take a pic of the whole subframe with just the battery tray in place with no seats or tail plastic. to give an idea what its looks like. Re: Another A-town subframe help!!
na its no biggie most people ether have a good idea what to do right off the get go or they PM me with ? or call. i understand no one wants to start cutting stuff off that they might need or cut something off that didnt need to get cut. the subframes are really easy once you do it the first time. hell when i made the first prototypes i had to put it on and take it off about 40 times before i got it to work
