Race rails or full cage learning wheelies?

Hi,

Been riding for a little over a year on a 2004 GSXR 600 and I want to learn wheelies without destroying my bike. I already have frame sliders but im wondering if I should pick up a crash cage or even race rails so in case of a crash I wont total the bike.

Im going to be learning clutch-up's as suggested in this forum in a closed off parking lot so speed will remain fairly slow. Not as if I were trying to powerwheelie in second down the freeway.

Should I invest in a crash cage or will race rails do the trick? Would removing the plastics also save me some headache?

Any opinions welcome.

Thanks
