Yes sir! I have a 03 zx6rr and i couldn't get it up in 2nd either from clutching alone.

You need to try the "bounce clutch" method. It's extremely simple, but people sometimes make it sound a lot harder than it actually is. I was scared to try it for a while cause people said it is unpredictable and difficult to time right, but after trying it three times (literally) i figured it out and my 2nd gear wheelie problems were solved.

Pretty much all you do is push down hard on the front suspension and when it recoils you drop the clutch like a normal clutch wheelie. The force of the forks rebounding up gives you the momentum needed to bring the bike all the way up.

So rolling at 40 to 50 in 2nd, in one quick moment you pull in the clutch, give it gas and at the same time push down on the handlebars, then as soon as you push down on them drop the clutch like a normal clutch wheelie.

If you look around on you tube you will find a bunch of examples. I do this staggered by the way so my weight is further back.

Good looking brotha, thats how i do my standing wheelies, i push down on the forks after getting off the gas and when they come up give it everything. The people over @ sprocket center told me to go -1, +4 and ill be able to clutch it up in second and third with no problem, but I dont know if Im going to lose an outrageous amount of top end

Yep, like OMR said you will loose top end. . .but any idiot can fly down the HW at 180. Rolling down the HW on the back wheel looks waaaaay better (if you know what your doing of course!) I am -1 +5 and I ride all day on the HW, it's not bad dude. The small loss of top end is worth it!

Re: Cluching it up in second on a goat

In one thread youre asking for tips about how to train yourself to use the rear brake and in another youre asking how to pop it up in 2nd at higher speeds. Learn 1st gear and brake control before you start moving and hurt yourself. And PRACTICE. Asking a million questions aint gonna get you the confidence to go out and do it And READ. These questions have been asked a million times already and theres a million threads already asking the same exact question.
