Idle frustration on zx6rr

Hi everyone,

I've been searching like crazy on this topic but i can't find an answer to my problem. I am just trying to learn how to ride idle on my bike and i can't tell if i'm just doing something plain wrong or if my bike's idle is weak. I'm on -1 +1 gearing on a 03 zx6rr (the 600 cc version of the 636). I have my idle cranked to 4000 and im slowing it down to around 5-7 mph and closing the throttle at or behind bp.

If the front end doesn't come down instantly than as soon as i even feather the back brake it comes down. I know you are supposed to kinda fight the idle with the back brake and i just don't think the bike's idle is pulling like it's supposed to.

I have a yoshi slip on (cut down in half) a k+N air filter, Power commander and Kleen air mod. When rolling around in first with both wheels on the ground with idle at 4000 (in neutral) the bike will pull it self @ around 3,250 around 15 mph. If i hit the brake and take it down to 2,000 rpm it takes a good 6-10 seconds to get back up to 3000. Is that normal?

Is there an idle mod for the 636?

I just want some closure so i can figure out if i should dedicate my short amount of time to trouble shooting the bike or to practice.

Thanks guys...

Re: Idle frustration on zx6rr

i might change my spark plugs after work today and see if that helps cause it like 105 degrees and i know i will get extremely frustrated in this heat.

Re: Idle frustration on zx6rr

Are you trying to slow down a fast wheelie? Or are your clutching up from a direct stop?

Re: Idle frustration on zx6rr

well, i actually learned idle since i made this thread

i think new spark plugs helped a bit but mostly it was just practice. I learned how to use body english and it came really quick.

I was just watching some japanese dudes do crazy fast no handed circles and i didn't think that kind of thing would be possible if their bike feels the same as mine on idle.
