hey what sup guys newbie here

Hey whats going on everyone... i just started doing my first wheelies about 2 weeks ago... i can clutch it up and ride it out for about 3 to 4 seconds just fine in 1st... cant for the life of me get it up in second.. still just doing sit down wheelies.. i would like to be able to do stand up/ stagger/ and sit down wheelies in first, second and if possible third gear.. i ride a 2007 gsx-r 600.. stock front sprocket, +2 in the back... if any gixxer riders got any input please help... maybe my technique for second gear is off or something... i would also like to do stoppies...but i got no clue on that one!

nice to finally be here...

Re: hey what sup guys newbie here

I used to ride a GSXR, does that count? Anyways Im not a wheelie expert and Im still trying to master those myself. I can do the high speed stand up but am unconfortable doing them staggard. I was going to comment on the stoppies. i was taught to try and compress my forks first al ittle by tappin the front brake and then applying and leaning forward to get the weight off the rear end. It worked for me just have to practice and remember not to grab a handful til your comfortable. but then again somone on here maybe able to help you out a little more than me...good luck

Re: hey what sup guys newbie here

1) stop doin 1st gear wheelies as soon as possable! 2) Stags feel umcomfortable at first but they will feel more natural as u do em 3) If ur runnin out of rpm (any gear) than ur not at the balance point. 4) For street wheelies ur gearin will be fine for 2nd gear... however a few more teeth on the rear or one down in the front will help......

And get a cage on that bike before you do anything else

Good luk

Re: hey what sup guys newbie here

... as far as stoppies go it sounds dumb but the faster the better!! If ur tryin them to a complete stop there is nothin to stop you from fallin forward. Get a lil speed behind you (30-40mph) pump the brake once to colapse the forks and a 2nd time to bring up the rear wheel...... pulse the brake as needed to keep it up. No doubt they'll be brake faders at first but this is the begginin. Just make sure to lock ur legs on the tank and always look forward, not down.....

I aint a pro, but i hope this helps...

Re: hey what sup guys newbie here

Ya CAGE is a number 1 priority bro your learnin which means your gonna lay your bike down and right when your makin progression u dont wanna have to stop till u get 1500bucks to fix somethin instead of gettin a cage lol and with your gearing def. all technique youll realize once you get em you can get on a stock bike and do the same ish kinda f'd when your learnin but keep out there and hook up with people who are good at ridin if you can do that your progression will rapidly grow trust me thats how i learned!

yeah i agree...why stop doing first gear wheelies???... they dont come up fast... i can ride em out.. the only thing that sux is you have to start from a slow speed stead of a second or third gear wheelie...

You're completely throwing me off with that comment. They don't come up fast? 1st gear is where you have the most compression and will come up faster and easier than any gear. The point that he was trying to make is that in first gear your throttle is more choppy and unforgiving, and you won't have as much play room in your revs, because if you're not at the BP, you're gonna redline really quickly, so being that you are inexperienced, you may wanna go with the smoother second gear.

At least I think that's the point Jerry was trying to make.
Just my

haha sorry i was at work when i wrote that so it came out wierd.. but i cant understand that first gear is the hardest to control when your not at the b.p. its def hard to keep it up and ride it out.. and it redlines real fast... but problem is i cant get it up in second... i tried sitting back all the way in the seat.. i tried it at 45 50 55 and 60 mph..and i cant clutch it up...idk why... an 07 gsxr 600 should jump up in second shouldnt it... ??? thats why i was planning on changing my front sprocket -1... and im already +2 in the back...??? so idk

Re: hey what sup guys newbie here

I dunno man. It should roll right on in second. Try getting the revs up high, drop the throttle while preloading the front springs, then roll it on hard and pull back. But really your best bet is to just learn how to clutch it up at a lower rev. Practice makes perfect.

Dont worry about second keep useing 1st and get BP down you run out of RPM's because you are not at BP... Dont use 2nd gear to fix it.. Fix it by geting up higher

Yeah but his problem is that he can't get up in second. He knows how to get up in first, but can't power or clutch it in second.
