learning drifts, use shitty tires?
learning drifts, use shitty tires?
So it's time I start at least working on drifts... What type of tires does everyone use?
The last few tires I've had have been IMO too sticky, or is it just me?
pilot power and race takeoffs... Once they are warm I just CAN'T get it to break loose..
Would I be better off putting on some of my HARD tires I have? They slide like ******* glass even when warm (cruiser type tires) Or does everyone prefer a softer tire and just forces it to break loose?

common sense to me says use a hard tire, less traction, more life.
Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
I don't have anyone local to learn off, just gotta bite everyones style from videos and figure it out for myself

I think I might throw a 190 harley tire on and see what I can do lol... Not expecting to learn drifts fast.. But would like to be able to dump the clutch, and spin circle burnouts no front brake with a foot down at least!
Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
i was always told that you needd to warm the tire up .. i dunno I just use a lot of throttle and clutch and don't really put much more into it than that .. haha love it but my drive way is a mess
Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
oh and the tire doesn't have to be specific for drifting ... edit,, i take that back.. sound slike your tire might be too sticky.. ps im still a squid but I can drift both ways now finally

Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
not really, i mean you have to remember the angle your at too there is a lot less area to get traction i would think.. I dunno I seen someone lit a tire up and when I touched the outside of the tire it was really sticky
would someone with knowledge of drifting please come in here .. this thread needs HALP

Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
I'll give that a whirl
The highest pressure I've ever run is 32psi, and right now with the race takeoff I have that ****** is like glue.. I can come sliding sideways using the brake and dump the throttle and it just wheelies up

Re: learning drifts, use shitty tires?
you can drift on low pressure , high pressure, soft tire ,hard tire its just a matter of getting used to what you got ...
if you skid into the drift low enough any tire with any pressure will slide , hard tire will last longer and slide easier and soft tires will wear out quick and take more lean and throttle ..
my point is run what ya brung and when in doubt tach it out ....lol
