damn cops!!

i just got a fat *** ticket last night for hard acceleration and he wrote down 71 in a 25.

he never showeed me the lazer and i dont think i was going 71.

yes i did accelerate hard but for the amount of distance from where i made a right turn from a stop to the spot where the cop was i dont think i could of made 70 that quick.

i called up a lawyer today and will meet with him on monday.

does anyone know how much room it takes for a 600rr to accelerate from 0 to 70 and then slow down to a stop?

damn im f***D..

Re: damn cops!!

you'd could do 0-60 in about 3 seconds.

so id say 3.5-4 seconds tops if you launched it good.

and they dont have to show you the laser, if you call there bluff you might get speed not reasonably / imprudent haha

Re: damn cops!!

not sure how the ticket will affect your license in HI, but if the cost of the lawyer is more than the ticket, then why pay more? here in florida it takes a few tickets a year to get suspended, and that'd only be 30 days anyways. I'd say fight it, and postpone the court date and hope the officer doesn't show up. If you didn't make an impression it'd be hard for the officer to remember you say, 6 months from now.

Re: damn cops!!

had my bike towed once for some high speed chase....got a lwyer..1200bucks later i was free and clear had my lisence. they damaged my bike but i was easier off the way i was.....around here you loose ur lisence immediately upon being convicted. that's dumb if he never showed the lazer/radar...how the **** is he supposed to prove that???? cops are crooked as a coathanger....there should be a print out like a pik and speed in the corner....i think cops **** people for that way too often.

laws are prety strict here.

maximum i think is a week jail time community service and load of fines, no license. plus sr22 thing. not sure what it is but will kill my insurance.

but i just talked to my attorney coast me $1000 flat rate. since the distance was relatively short and the angle at which the cop was located, and my bike.
he said theres a chance he can prove i wasnt going as fast and possibly drop the ticket.

I would pray the cop doesn't show up first, because your lawyer is blowing smoke up you a$$.... The variables radar arguements are very small, I watched an expert in radar systems in court get shut down totally as he spoke way above the knowledge of everyone about the technical specifications of radars used by police and ultimately it's the word of the officer and the calibration of the radar..with some other minor paperwork is all they need to be legal and win in court!

Not trying be mean just my experience!
Good Luck...!!!
