Why can't I circle?
Why can't I circle?
Besides the fact that I'm an enormous squid...
Stock gears and 25 psi, 03 636, rpm about 3200-3500.
Is there some kind of magic secret that I'm missing? I have idle, NTH, and coasters locked downed pretty well, so I think I've got a decent foundation for them, I just can't get anything to happen with a circle. I can sometimes get it to start to turn in by rocking it past bp and giving it a little lean, but after that I either a)high side out of the circle after making a 90 degree turn or so, or b) spiral into the circle and make a little less than a half turn. I feel like I've tried every body position and nothing seems to work, are there any pointers? I looked through the circle thread and didn't find anything that I didn't feel like I've already tried, so what's the deal?

Re: Why can't I circle?
get on idle....let it fall back so ur riding the brake, when it slows down real slow push the bike away from you and down into the left. so if ur doing it staggered, straigthen ur left leg out push the clip ons to the left while moving your body to the outside of the bike and as it falls in let off the brake, give throttle if its falling in too much and readjust ur body position. if u want to do em fast and wide you keep the bike pushed down while staying to the outside of the circle using lots of gas if u want to do em slow and more straight up(steering type circle) then lean your body into the circle and push the bike up to the outside. and somewhere in between is the happy medium. its adjust and readjust, constant back and forth. takes time youll get it.
Re: Why can't I circle?
Thanks dude, next time I practice I'll work on that... I got so pissed off with them last night I couldn't hardly see straight, just needed to take a break after a couple hours.
Re: Why can't I circle?
Ya, I've been practicing them for a little while. Last night was about the most effort I've put into them though, and I really just feel like I'm treading water... haven't really picked up any tricks in a while and was hoping to at least get these circles by the end of the year... how long did you work on them before getting them down?

Then I locked them in my 150, which helped a lot with learning them on the sport bike
but it took me a year of riding idle on the f4i, before I started even attempting to spin circles, and I actually hit 2 circles my first night trying..
but that is ONLY because I had them locked in on hte 150
Re: Why can't I circle?
It took me about 6 months to really LOCK them in from the time I did my first 2 circles
And now about 2 months after locking them down, I'm starting to pick up other variations of circles, and REALLY locking them down..
Here is a video from my first day doing circles.. This is the first time I actually TRIED to learn them.. took a few hours
Btw I think the only reason I learned this fast, was because I knew how to come in hot and dip my 220 pound 150f in circles

and here is my 2nd day practicing them

Re: Why can't I circle?
**** circles. Who needs circles when you got NTH and no handers
Them ***** are kicking my ***. Sometimes I get 1 but the majority of the time I get 1/2 a turn and wind up on the bar

Re: Why can't I circle?
Yesterday I gave too much gas and got highsided off the bike and I was holding onto the bike trying not let it flip flop all over the place and my jaw (with helmet on) came a couple of inches away from slamming into my clip on. That wouldve been bad. Besides that, Ive been highsided and tossed once and lowsided and slammed into the ground a bunch of times trying to learn these ****** circles
Re: Why can't I circle?
i kinda did the same thing i jumped off but the bike was still in the air and when i jumped off i was on the left side so when i pulled the clutch it dropped of course and somehow i got f***ing tangled in my front wheel and fell flat on my face it was priceless i need to start taking vid so people on here can have a good laugh

Re: Why can't I circle?
Dude I spent MONTHS of just trying circles only so believe me it's frustrating but when people say it comes out of no where it really did with me.. FYI staggard circles are definitely the hardest circle I've tried. I still can only get 1-2 lol...I busted out 4 the other day so that was weird lol.. Just stick with it. I seriously about quit riding cause of circles.. Actually i stopped for a few months.. It's a never ending process
Like Skillz says get it on idle bring it little further back where you slow it down more on idle straighten your left leg and bend your right leg .. Make sure you look into the circle. Don't look at your front tire or you'll never get anywhere.. You want to keep the bike high and dont be afraid to blip the gas.
