Sprocket Time!

I'm a new stunt rider. But not new to bikes. Trying to figure out what size sprockets to run on my f4i? I'm a very good street rider and just now getting my f4i turned into a stunt bike. Can someone shoot some advise on gearing this bike? I have been told 62 in the rear and 1 down is a good starting ratio? any thoughts?

Re: Sprocket Time!

Hmmm...so your just starting off doing wheelies and people told you -1/+16 is a good starting setup? WTF? Most people here are gonna say to keep it stock or I'd say at max go like -1/+4. Though I guess everyones different...I've known people who started off regular highway then moved to slow. Then also I've known people who just immediately started off doing slows. BUT even the guys who started off doing slows only had like -1/+2 gearing.

Oh okay that makes sense now I thought you were new to stunting all together and they were telling you go straight to -1/+16 haha.

Re: Sprocket Time!

The majority seem to prefer the range of +10 or -1,+10...f4i seems that some peeps like a bit larger.

If you want a 62 tooth, I have a brand new Thrust sitting in my garage that I can hook you up with for say...75 shipped

If you want a different size, check out 1StopStuntShop.com

Re: Sprocket Time!

its just not necessary to make that drastic of a change to your gearing...went from -2 in the front when starting up to a +14 rear and back down again to a +7 rear. throttle is less choppy when learning throttle and brake control.

Re: Sprocket Time!

yeah you have to learn to control the bike while wheelying before jumping up like that. i run -1 and +12 but it took a while before i could do that. probably going to move back down too. learn how to stunt on stock sprockets first then go up. or at least learn how to do a controlled wheelie first.
