so the ignition was working perfect the day before; went out to my bike this morning, tried to unlock the steering column (or whatever you call it) and the damn thing wouldn't turn. key slid in and out real well, unlocked the trunk, but not the ignition. i finally had to take a can of WD and attack the chamber...works now, just curious if anyone else has ever had this problem

 

i know you cant have any pressure on the lock when you try to unlock it, just like a car with outo lock when you take the key out, If the wheel are putting pressur on the steering whel then you sometimes have to turn the wheel to take pressure off in order to turn they key...you dig?

 

ya. i was fiddling with the damn thing a good 10 minutes or so rockin the steering left and right trying to find the sweet spot, but nothing

 

A mth after i bought my new 07 gsxr 1000, i had the same prob. I was jacked. Tried everything. After a wk after tring everything i could think of, i finally took it to the shop and they had to put a new ignition in it, as well with change all the other locks. I dont know if its true or not but i seen a forum somewhere that said yamaha's r good for this.
