stoppies on a F4
stoppies on a F4
ok stupid question but theres no need for anyone to be a dick. i got a 00 F4 i havent touched the suspension or brake setup on my bike. now when i was tryin to learn stoppies i couldnt get them to roll at all i was only poppin my bike up and it would only pop up under 20 or 30mph anything faster than that and my front end would sound and feel like it was bottoming out. i tried letting off the brake a little to get it to roll but still no roll. now my question is this, should i adjust my suspension? and another question as well, would steel braided lines help? i would appreciate any real advice hopefully someone with an F4 went threw this. thanks.
Re: stoppies on a F4
steel braided lines area always good if you can afford 'em...that's in my opinion, a few others may disagree.
in regards to ur other question, no, don't touch ur suspension. btw, i'll assume that by "bottoming out" u meant sliding/slipping.
anyway, u have 2 options if u're trying to roll 'em
1. push down on ur pegs with ur feet, AKA preload the suspention, then go for the brake. i don't recommend this caz it's hard to get the timing right.
2. just lift ur *** a little off the seat, and put all ur weight on the handle bars as u grab the front brake.
...go watch a few utube endo videos and ull see wat i mean.
aftet than, it's all about "saddle time"....just go out and practice (first warm up the front tires)...after about 100 tries, you'll start gettin 'em. it's all about timing and weight transfer which you'll only learn by practice.

Re: stoppies on a F4
no i dont mean sliding or slipping of my front tire. i ride for a good 45 minutes to warm up my tires before i go to the warehouse and practice anything. but anyway i dont know how to explain it except that it feels like the suspension bottoms out, almost like when your on a pogo stick and you land with it except you dont feel it bottom out with your feet cuz i feel it through the handlebars. first time it happed i thought my forks where fucked up and where leaking or something but there not leaking and there not bent. thanks for the advice though

ok, not being a dick. have you ever rolled stoppies before or are you beginning. Check to see if your fork seals are blown. that has alot to do with it. I am on a stock 01 f4 i and im rolling stoppies for 375 feet and with my tandem partner on there about 450. I dont have any steering stabilizers but i guess it just depends on your forks. Steel braided doesnt help, it just doesnt expand when heating up. alot of raceras switch to steel braided so that there is no fade when going into a turn. check out my stoppie vid in the vid section ( stoppie with tandem partner ).
Re: stoppies on a F4
my initial post answers your question. i said "i couldnt get them to roll at all i was only poppin my bike up" i also said "i tried letting off the brake a little to get it to roll but still no roll." so im asuming...... no ive never rolled one. anyway thanks for your input i appreciate it.
