One step closer to SS
One step closer to SS
so everyone...just looking for ideas...
for those who dont know me ... I'm old and I'm a slow learner...so please bear with me
I'm startin' to get my slow staggered wheelies down pretty good... hitting idle about 50% of the time..... my hands have become a weak link (get fatigued from hangin on ) I know that SS (from what I've read...and what other better stunters have told me) is where this goes away...and worlds of other stuff (opportunities and tricks) starts to open up.
The reason I havent gone SS yet is my RHB is is not great yet...It is only mediocre (at best).... So that's what I'm working on now... the past 2 days...I've been Launching wheelies from Standing on both rear pegs...and catching them with my RHB and working on those skills... this will be my stepping stone ...till i try to go SS. I've even hit idle a couple times already in this new position...but it didnt last long
I figure i'll spend a few weeks ...till i feel my RHB is real good...then I'll try SS...
any other ideas that are safe ...calculating...methodical... and safe ?
thanks guys ...... and Special Thanks to MICKEY, Billy B Right and Remon and Byrd from last sundays nashville session... they all helped me with good advice...

#1 gotta give credit where credit is due, I'm 31 and starting to feel a little old in the game and here you are starting at 42 that's sick.
Although I think it's smart you are taking baby steps, you are probably wasting your time. Same principals you are using to stand on the back pegs do on your seat.
Turn up the idle and practice ripping it up and hitting your brake. Keep doing that over and over and over, by the end of the day you will get it. This way you tackle your fear realize it's easy and you can move on to ss coasters. lol
Just remember if you get scared squeeze the brake dont jump off the bike.

Re: One step closer to SS
it is easy you just have to have confidence in your hb. also if you can put your foot in bar(if you can) and still use foot brake ,that will take away pressure on your arms and hands as well
Re: One step closer to SS
they r real easy just put ur feet on it and just pop it up lil by lil if it makes u feel comfortable and u will see.... and an hb helps but then again i wouldnt know since i dont have an hb...
Re: One step closer to SS
Everyone goes through it.. but honestly SS is one of the easiest wheeliest and you will laugh at how easy it is later.. Listen to Mickey he won't steer you wrong!
Oh and make sure you have a decent HB setup, If you can lock the wheel down riding along... you have nthing to worry about in a wheelie

Thanks guys...I know you are all right .... I'm just a Puss
and my HB on my bike is pretty good... a couple of those guys rode it and verified that it's good..(They de-virginized my Bike with all kinds of Seat standers , bar standers, and a few combos...hehe)..
It's My "left hand being tied to my Brain" that isn't so Sharp yet... I'm gonna hone that in (even if it's wasting a little time...hehe) and take my little baby steps into "manhood" ...

Re: One step closer to SS
Either sack up and start doing it to get used to it or just use it instead of your RB when your riding normal on 2 wheels.. a few days of that will help a lot and give you a feel for it.. also help with learning to cover the clutch!
Re: One step closer to SS
1stGEAR.... Great Idea...I 've been Planning to Do that (not sack up...LOL....but Use my HB even on the Street ...for practice) but I keep forgetting
I'm gonna get this **** ...I just need 3 or 4 days Of practicing rear peg standers first... baby steps really works well for me
....I have no ACL in one knee...so i really have to minimize risk as much as possible(even if it means taking 5 times longer to do stuff ...than some other peeps... but I can live with that ) Cause I love doing this stuff...even at a newbs level Re: One step closer to SS

Re: One step closer to SS
yea, ss is easier than pass. peg wheelies I think. Just a mental thing. Like jumping from ss to frog, ect ect. You will get it man and I love it to see people that are a little bit older than most, stunting:YEAH
