rpms clitchin a wheelie?
i just started trying to clutch up wheelies and when im dropping the clutch the wheel doesnt seem to even pop off the ground til about 8000rpms, is that ok? it just seems a little high
Re: rpms clitchin a wheelie?
Just cruise till 4,000-6,000 revs, pull the clutch just enough to disengage the transmission and rev, and let go of clutch.
"Slipping the clutch"
That baby will come up with little damage if any to the transmission/clutch plates.
When you say "dump" the clutch, it sounds like your pulling the clutch in all the way, reving to 8,000 and "dumping" it.
!! ahh, That's what I use to do; thankfully someone quickly informed me that damges the clutch pads/plates. Or something of the sort.
Good Luck

Re: rpms clitchin a wheelie?
I would put a 70 tooth on it with a handbrake and then pull in the clutch allow the bike to redline then snap the clutch out. Make sure you bleed all the air out of the handbrake to make sure it catches you at balance point! Oh and its easier to learn brake control if you use the handbrake all the time and remove the pedal to save some weight!
Re: rpms clitchin a wheelie?
right now your body position is all fucked up, you prolly lean forward subconciously, and overall your not "ready" to wheelie. Which is why your having to rev the **** outa your bike. When my 600rr was stock gearing i would have to rev that bitch to like 10k when i was learning to get it to come up, but then as i progressed and got better, i could slip the clutch at like 3k and it would come right up effortlessly. Moral of the story is more practice and things will improve!

Thats insane!! Who would do such a thing unless you like your bike sitting on its gas tank better then the wheels. This guy is joking right?

Re: rpms clitchin a wheelie?
Yeah he is, i got told to sit at 5k revs ( no idle, no big sprocket, just standard) dip the clutch and see what happens, practice is the key, don't try too many things too soon, and always cover the back brake (easier said than done, i still haven't sussed it yet)
Good luck
