Re: New to Riding

or ...one of those 200cc chinese dualsports (street legal dirtbike) that are like $1200 or $1300... basically disposeable if it lasts you for 6 months or 2 years... but You'll learn how to ride ...and in the meantime you could be researching what kind of "real bike" you would want to get next.

Re: New to Riding

you can actually start on any bike you want... my very first bike was an R6. I suggest just find someone with either a quad or a DB and spend a few hours on it so you can get used to working the throttle, shifting, breaking, etc..

as for a good bike just look for something FI, you'll thank yourself later if you decide to start stunting

Re: New to Riding

get a 250 or 600 nothing larger.. find some one with a quad or dirtbike if you dont know how to use a clutch & brake lever/twist throttle/foot shift etc.

if you are eventually going to get into stunting look at the bikes in the classified boards.. you can get a cheap one set up for stunting around 2500.. i'd go with an f4i or a 636

if you buy one off the boards make sure to go back to the stock gearing

Any 600. If you wait till winter you'll be able to get something really good for $2500.

Re: New to Riding

600.... my first bike was a 2003 Honda F4i, and some people said a 600 is too much and some said it wasnt, its all about self-control... i had never drove ANYTHING with a clutch or a dirtbike or anything... learned the clutch on a sportsbike, which was a interesting learning experience let me tell ya lol.. ive rode about.. 8,000+ miles or so as of current and besides me droppin it in a driveway my 3rd day ridin i havent had any problems...

you can kill yourself as easy with a 250 as a 1000... its all about self-control, but i say a 600 is a good choice really...

Re: New to Riding

well if you got that down... get a street bike and see how it feels for you. Just practice a bit in a back street or lot before you on the streets

wtf is a fiddy gonna do? lol its not gonna teach you to ride hahaha all thats gonna teach you is to twist the throttle

if your gonna be on a dirt bike it needs to have a manual clutch or its useless IMO, your best bet is to learn on someones bike a lil ninja 250 is good and any 600 will do the trick!!

like said self control is your biggest govenor !!!! be smart and you can ride anythign!

Re: New to Riding

A fifty is the best practice in the world.. you will learn everything you need to learn on a fiddy. ya dont just twist the throttle as hard as ya can and your rockin sweet wheelies. ya use so much brake on a fiddy.. cant use engine brake on a fiddy.. and the BP is so small on a fiddy. And becuase a 50 is so small its all about your body position. very touchy. so before you go sayin you cant learn a wheelie on a fiddy you need to ride one and see what its all about samurai.
