VHT Engine Paint you can get it a most car part shops
Very High Temp 350F - 2000FVHT FlameProof Coating VHT I think there like $10
check the web www.vhtpaint.com
& the engine paint is rated at 550F hope that helps to save the paint job

Re: painting radiator

i have heard mixed things with painting radiators. i know certain shops use paints that help dissapate(did i spell that right??) the heat, but i dont feel like paying someone else to do it. so i was going to paint it myself, just dont want to put a paint on that would hurt instead of help.

function vs looks.....hate that debate

dont some bikes come with the radiators painted black?

Re: painting radiator

here's what I've heard....Black dissipates heat better than other colors....

you need paint on a rad to keep it protected from exterior corrosion (only all alum rads are sometimes raw...and usually they are coated or painted...ya' know salt in the air in Fla (or anywhere near the ocean)can eat alum

light coats of engine enamel paint will probabaly be the best...it'll handle the heat And it sprays easily and leaves a decent finish (Light coats is the key to NOT building up an insulated covering like jakeford described)

good luck and have fun

Re: painting radiator

thats cool as hell but the 1200 degree paint was a little over kil..lol

i figure the bike runs about 200 and 250 would be over heating so 1200 should be just about enough....lol

exactly, paint is not going to transfer heat well so your motor is going to run hotter....why do you want to insulate your radiator?

some radiators do come black but its a special coating that wont hinder the transfer of heat...im not an expert on anodizing but that may be an option if you have alot of money and down time.
