Ralph Louie circles?

So Ive started to get into SS circles combos and I want to get into RL circles from SS...What is the best way to start learning these? Learn to ride RL straight and then start dipping them in, or just get into RL while already turning SS circles?

I tried RL staright line and I dip right hard as soon as I get all my weight on the rear peg, and I can look down at my peg in SS circles but just cant seem to go for it...

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

I learned by trying two things. I would go straight and step down to one foot in ss and the other on peg and then dip in circles. get good at circles like that, then start going back to ss then back down again. You will learn just by feel where the peg will be.

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

easiest way.... clutch it up foot in seat.... step down.... circle pretty much turns in by itself.

after u get a feel for that... start to step up/down from ss.

Ralph louie's are the easiest circles out of anything imo.

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

yea theyre easier than regular circles.

keep you legs shoulder length apart when learning them, and if you think your gonna highside, kick your leg way out, it will help you from highsiding

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

they kinda just circle themselves

they balance a little higher than seat standers, so as you're transferring your weight to the peg, give it a little gas

+1

It's all about seat time and being able to turn it in slow and smooth while stepping down at the same time. It takes a little bit to be able to know where the peg is w/ out looking at first, just takes a little practice.

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

Thanks guys I got them:YEAH They balance higher not lower! And that was my biggest problem, I started to get them when I came in really high, slow, and close to the bike...In the start I had to turn a few SS before I could step down, now I can step down right as I start to turn in the SS...

I have to tuck my pant legs in because when I tried to step back up, I was stepping on my pant leg and slipping off....Stepping down is alot easier then stepping back up for me, is that the usual? Feels like Im not transferring my weight back inline with the bike fast enough.....

They are a ****** blast to do! Gonna try draggin the foot tonight

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

I have been trying to combo from nth rl step up to nth ss but I also keep stepping on my pants. I hate that but the next option is shorts. You can also go from rl to foot in seat or bar if you have that option...that's a fun transition.

Im going to try the shorts, Im just worried cause I still bash my knees and legs all the time... But the foot in seat/bar aint gonna happen, I likes to keep it clean and never really felt comfortable with my foot in the seat.....I need a beater with no fairings!

Yeah I hear ya but I still ride this bike on the street and keep stuff in my trunk, maybe I'll do it to a spare just for the lots....I tried it in the trunk without a seat and I ate ****, so I never tried it again and stuck with foot on the seat...

Your right Ive just hit that point where things are starting to come easy, so far this season(4 months) Ive learned SS circles and SS circle combos, sitdown and standup coasters, 180 stoppies, some other little crap....And I try to learn at least one new trick every day or 2 at the spot....My biggest problem is there is no one better then me around here to stunt with, so all i really have to learn from is this site......

when you step back to the seat, the bp changes again, of course. so let the nose come down a little while youre in RL, then instead of gassing it to get back to balance, you just step to the seat which lowers the balance point

Re: Ralph Louie circles?

hey guys i do Rl's like this: step down, raise right leg high (and if im turnin to the right) i turn my bars all way to the left - opposite lock...then pump the gas, try it, they go round really really fast and low so you have to raise your leg right up... it's a mission gettin back on though as you have to almost high side and quick clutch stall to get the nose up again... yeah
