30MPH wheelies

when you pros go street riding and rip **** up at like 30 mph forever are you riding on idle or just using good throttle control and HB control? i recently went on a ride with the 518 guys and some guys from adrenaline crew and these guys were rolling through town at like 20 or 30 mph doin some crazy *** **** for pretty much ever, many of them had really big sprockets but i'm just curious how you guys roll so slow at jump all over the place, i can do seat standers in 2nd and 3rd and keep it at one speed but its much faster than these guys were going. i wanna be able to roll around in 2nd gear and jump all over my bike and do sick combos and stay at the same speed, i'm thinkin the only way possible is idle but i may be wong help me out here, i got skillz but i need some help with this one, i've seen slow **** and i've seen fast **** but this 30mph **** is straight off the hook.

<--- use to do it stock, just went up 2 in the rear. I don't jump all over the bike yet but it's just what the 287ridah just said, doesnt matter the bike or setup to do slow whoolies.

Re: 30MPH wheelies

im defiantly not a pro....i learned pretty much all of my tricks on idle....every once in a while ill put the idle to stock just to practice throttle control....first gear see how smooth and slow i can get it without using the rear brake or the hand brake....just engine brake....i did a bunch of second and they were a joke.....just gotta stay consistent on the throttle....

Re: 30MPH wheelies

Yo everyone for 518 kills it. I went out with Joe last year and he blew my wig off doing either 3rd or 4 gear coaster down the highway at night it was just plain nasty, I feel your pain . I mostly just stick to 1st gear myself until I feel comfortable going up in any gears which is a mental block on my part.

Re: 30MPH wheelies

guess i just goitta start practicing that HB a lot more, i can keep a wheelie or seat stanbder at same speed once i get up in thr Rs in 2nd and 3rd but wanna go real slow and jump all over that ****, didn't think it was possible to ride idle doing 30 or so MPH but i wasn't sure, guess it will just take some time and practice

Re: 30MPH wheelies

anyone else give me some advice here its hard as hell to hold a low R in 2nd and jump around without gaining mad speed, i can go from standup 2 SS 2 flamingo 2 spreader back 2 SS but by then i gain so much speed i have to come down and thats all at like 60 i wanna keep it real slow, the way my bike is geared i can rip it up in 2nd at 5MPH in a SS witrh low Rs but the bike is hard as hell to control throttle and such at that low of an R till i get it up in the Rs and i can roll Seat Standers for miles at BP without HB, what else can i do here, should i just go down to 1st and get to BP and use HB to run at 20-30MPH, when i ride with guys that are pros thier bikes dont even sound loud like they are using Rs at all, sounds like more of an idle or real low R to me but i could be wrong my **** is just too loud maybe

Re: 30MPH wheelies

30mph is fast enough that you just need to keep a steady throttle and use mainly engine brake. I always use the handbrake anyways but I do alot of dipping it back and slowing **** down and going from foot brake to hand brake.

Re: 30MPH wheelies

When your jumping around on the bike are you at BP or just infront of it under power or behind it on the brake. I can do SS for miles bending corners and slowing it down with engine brake but can't jump all over the bike yet.

Re: 30MPH wheelies

So correct me if I'm wrong but this should be possible. Assume no rb or hb involved here.
1)Bring the bike up to bp.
2)Give more gas to go behind bp.
3)Let off gas a hair and let engine brake take you back to bp.
4)Repeat Step 2
5)Repeat Step 3

keep doing 4 and 5 till you get bored and want to end ur wheelie.

So even though your behind bp you wont loop cause engine brake will take you back. And during this whole process your bike should slow down cuz your behind bp.

Correct. Just be smooth on the throttle.

Re: 30MPH wheelies

i know that and i can slow down standupos and seat standers without touchin the brakes but to jump from one spot to another to another is gonna take some brake control even the pros say that. i can rock a SS in 3rd from 65 and go for miles and end up at like 45 just from going beyond BP without using break, but i wanna go much slower, been working on um in 2nd at 25-30 with little HB and doing much better, just gonna take a lot of practice i guess

Re: 30MPH wheelies

when i jump around i'm not quite at BP i may be at BP when i start but after you jump to the tank you end up gainging speed and to jump and stay at BP is a bit too hard and a lot more sketchy cuz if you hit the throttle while moving from one place to another you can get in trouble in a hurry, so by time i jump around to 3 or 4 different positions i have gained enough speed that it would take a lot of room and a lot of throttle control to slow back down without brake, so i'm working on doing it and then using the brake beyond BP to get back to a slow pace, i think gearing helps a lot with some of these guys that have bigger sprockets to stay really slow theres a lot more engine brake to help you even at a slow speed with a big *** sprocket

Re: 30MPH wheelies

Your bike is meant to go fast and has weak midrange and all top end power. I know it can be done on the new R6 but an F4i or 636 may be better for you

I hate Yamahas sorry

you're stupid, and uneducated about yamaha's.

please don't comment on them again....

the 5sl model has a ton of lowend tourqe, GOB's of it actually. midrange is even stronger!

the engine braking is outstanding on this bike aswell.

you say the newer R6 can do it???? you know nothing. the newer model R6 will never compare in tourqe when comparing the two models in low and midrange tourqe.
