4th Gear Wheelie - 600cc
Hey all.
Its my first post on this forum, so heya!
I've got a question about high speed wheelies.
I own a 2001 Honda Hornet (S) 600cc bike. +3 rear. K&N & Micron. All other mods are purely cosmetic.
I've been able to start getting into fourth gear wheelies.
I start my wheelies at 80kmh in second (with my weight shifted behind the rear suspension, but still on the front seat), put it into third at around 125kmh, and then try for fourth at 160kph. I'm finding it really hard to ride out fourth gear. As soon as i put it in gear, the front wheel starts to return back to the road.
I'm sure that the bike will ride through fourth gear (even though so many hornet riders say it won't even go into third). I say this because it has soo much power still to offer. I have a feeling i might be changeing gear just a tad too early, or a tad too late.
Does anyone on here ride a 600cc who does high speed wheelies that can offer a bit of advice for me??
Any help will be muchly appreciated.

im not a big fan of high speed wheelies....i don't even know if my bike has a 4th gear....the best advice i could give you besides slow down is to sick to 1st 2nd or 3rd gear.....if you practice enough you can ride any of those gears out forever....
Re: 4th Gear Wheelie - 600cc
you do not have your pow pow powerwheelie high enough
but sereiously. WHY do u even want to do a wheelie that fast?
u should learn a thing called balance point and stay in one gear

Re: 4th Gear Wheelie - 600cc
Yeah, i've done first and second gear wheelies for soo soo long. i've had my hornet for more than 5 years now and have done over 60,000 kms on it.
I've done balance point so many times, and i find it quite boring.
I'm enjoying doing faster wheelies because thats what the people i ride with do, but they are on 1000cc bikes. I like turning heads when i'm wheeieing (which i'm sure everyone else here does) and the faster speeds on a 600 does that.
The roads around here are all wide and open without hardly any traffic in 110kmh zones, so i'm not doing this stuff in residential areas. i live in the country which means we get great big and long roads with no traffic.
Thanks for the replies

if doing balance point wheelies are boring...start doing combos they never get boring....their is a bunch of stuff you can do with a wheelie besides go faster....speed kills
