ok so i got out today......
ok so i got out today......
i got out today and went to a lot to practice in 2nd....for me standing staggerd feels worse than just standing normal....staggerd the front seems to move more making the landing pretty rough....i managed to get the front up about 6 inches on a stock 04 f4i in second. Now my wrist is killing me between bouncing it and slipping the clutch. Any advice? I can clutch em in first (sitting down) but just cant ride them very long.
Re: ok so i got out today......
Yeah ^^^, you're just going to have to practice, bro. Believe it, staggered is the way to go. Of course, you CAN go old school Starboyz style and go both feet forward, but then you're limiting yourself to highway wheelies. Practice, practice, and more practice. Good luck!
Re: ok so i got out today......
but then you're limiting yourself to highway wheelies
but yea it is way better to learn staggered
Re: ok so i got out today......
i tried staggerd but it was no where near as stable for me as it was with both feet forward....i tried to do a stand up in first at around the rpms i do them sitting down and my heart felt like it was gonna jump outta my chest, i guess i just need more practice............i was watching the video and its crazy, you feel like your picking it up higher than you really are, crazy
Re: ok so i got out today......
What u mean by staggerd
? both foot on the front peg and kind of bend your knee and your back forward to the front or stand on the peg and bend your back but not your knee. i'm confusing

Re: ok so i got out today......
staggered is your left foot is on the rear passenger peg and your right foot is on the rearset covering your rear brake...i.e. your legs are "staggered" then as you come up with the wheelie your standing "staggered"
Re: ok so i got out today......
i been doing sitdown for a while went out today and tried stand up both feet in the front peg it feel uncomfortable would staggered more easeier to learn.
Re: ok so i got out today......
ok so another question.....should i practice learning standups in first or second? I tried one in first and it felt like it came up quicker than it does when i sit...what about chasing bp, first or second on stock gearing?
Re: ok so i got out today......
dude, staggered is the way to go just practice practice ,i can hit bp in 1st gear sittin' down and ride it till whenever but i never bounc 1st gear,**** just sounds stuped to me ,2nd gear i can do bouth feet on the front pegs but ur legs and arms get tired as **** after a long wheelie so i wouldnt recomend it,once you learn how to do'em staggered you wouldnt wanna go back ,and you'll be able to hold'em for milles like that ,it took me 2hrs to get'em down, i was doing pretty deacent wheelies after 4months of riddin' ,i do high chairs and tank spreaders now no problem ,all on stock 06' 600,practice practice practice ,be safe and cover that rear break it comes in handy sumtimes
Re: ok so i got out today......
ohh just a lil tip that helped me ,get it in ur head not the bounce u gonna give it is gonna bring the bike up its the amount of throttle your gonna give the bike ,i used to try and pull the bike up so i can get it to do a wheelie, wondering why it never came up,lol, its the bikes power you got to use to bring it up,
Re: ok so i got out today......
Just do it. I'm not talking anything huge but you want to compress the suspension and brace your legs as you let the clutch out. When you time it all right it takes hardly any gas and clutch to bring it up. It gets the front end going up instead of the bike shooting forward, which helps keep your revs down. If you want to be able to clutch it up in the frozen rain that's how you do it.

Re: ok so i got out today......
lots of bad advice beeing given in here..... whats your name and where you live... im gona get some life insurance on you lol J/k man... practice practice praqctice... and do it in 1st.... might be a lil choppier, but youd rather wreck @ a low speed than a high speed... im sure the bike would too lol

not to mention... if you have the throttle control and bp down in first gear... second will be a walk in the park.... the other way around wont
like said before... you dont HAVE to bounce it to get it up in first but its a REALLY good habit to learn because even with stock gearin clutchin em up from idle if you time the bounce and clutch just right it will come up with ease... it takes time to learn and get to where you can do it every time but you just gotta practice practice practice! learning good habits the first time around will get you where you need to be alot faster! good luck

Re: ok so i got out today......
ok so start bouncing them in first?
in first i would just get the revs to about 5500 and slip the clutch a lil.........so it will come up easier and smoother/higher by bouncing and slipping the clutch in first at lower speeds? i know im a squid at stuntin but i wanna learn right......im a big guy (240 lbs) on prolly one of the most gutless 600's i know (04 f4i) so lay it out for me in first and second how to do it the best and progress the fastest so i know how i need to practice ie rpms, slipping, bouncing etc..... thanks guys, your helping a lot
