Re: Merk Stepping

pretty sure merk was actually "stepping" before he had a handbrake. Seen Vertical Chris do it w/o one as well.

Re: Merk Stepping

anyone NEEDING a hb to do this trick must be newbies drop your idle to where it about shuts off the bike(almost) then jump to seatstander let the ENGiNE BREAK slow you down to where your comfortable running behind the bike while pushing it in a wheelie prolly like 5mph and then in stride (NOT A GAY STOP STALL JUMP BAck ON ****) jump back to the seat and jump to spreada or any little variation your heart desires.
damnit i cant believe i just posted and crap life kudos to whoever started this thread ihvant killed a merk step in a min

why do it the hard way ? just get a hand brake and you will do it on the first try and you won't brake any thing.......

can it be done with out a handbrake ,of course but why bother
can you kickstart a 1000cc motorcycle ,yes but why bother
can you hand crank start a car ,yes but why bother
can you hand wash your clothes in a creek, yes but why bother

see my point

Re: Merk Stepping

i bet there are some things i can do with a hand brake that no one can do with out one......

times change, like i said cars don't have hand cranks any more they have electric starters and stunt bikes have fuel injection and hand brakes.....

i been practin them from footdown sitdown, slide off and switch to hb...but im sure u can get them from ss too first few tries, its more of a transition i think when ur just learnin, from ss that is
the way ive done them is similar ,Ill start off from a sitdown stop and slip it up to Bp w/ idle at 3,000 ,alot of times I can just catch it just right and not have to touch the foot or hand brake . and then sometimes ill start walkin behind it on idle and it'll fall back to the bar and then i just squeeze in the HB and keep pulsin it. sometimes I can get it to walk in circle , Im gonna start to hop onto left pas. peg from that point.

Re: Merk Stepping

whats that restaurant called?????

lol im by no means a pro at this...still learnin, but i can see that u wouldnt need a hb to get off the bike and merk it.....just easier at first like anything else, u think u need the brake like crazy, but EB slows u down quiet a bit....
