Is the type tyre/air pressure a major part of circle wheelies?
Is the type tyre/air pressure a major part of circle wheelies?
well I recently changed my rear tyre which I change from a dunlop D208
to a bridgestone Batlax and since then I've had it difficult to get the bike to turn into circles.
I need some advice, should I change the type of tyre?
is it that circles should only be done on specific types of tyres or could it be the tyre pressure?

When learning, yes it matters. You are used to the contour of the 208, so it will take you time to get used to the battle axe.
Once you have O's locked, tire really doesnt matter (there are exceptions as some tires are just junk) and you will eventually like a little higher psi. I run mine between 18-28 depending on tire/surface/traction/etc

Re: Is the type tyre/air pressure a major part of circle wheelies?
pressure all depends on how soft the tire is also i think.
some tires i run more pressure. others i run less to get the same feel..
i go back n forth between 180's and 190's depending on what the latest take off i got too so its always hard to just jump on a new take off tire and get the same feel as the last tire.

I generally run 30psi front and rear for everything no matter the tire

Re: Is the type tyre/air pressure a major part of circle wheelies?
its really hard to get used to just doin the slow stuff with the tire at 20 psi or higher, should i lower it to 15 to get rerally good and stabil at slow stuff first before bumping up to 20 or so or should i start at 20 n work my way up? can;'t do circles yet but its my goal for this year for sure
Re: Is the type tyre/air pressure a major part of circle wheelies?
like what was said before..any new tire is going to feel funny until its broken in. I have a couple friends that wont run Battleaxes on the rear because of the contour they say its a terrible circle tire....I cant offer my opinion on this though its just what they say...but yes tire pressure is very important..
