f4i running weird...

So, my bike has been giving me some really problems lately. Most noticeably, a pretty bad bog at real low rpms. If I clutch it up from a dead stop and don't get it high enough, I use to be able to give it some gas and adjust, now it just bogs and comes down. Also, when doing merk steps, my bike has gotten to where all it wants to do is bog once I hop back up, even though I'm on the gas hard.

What all can I do aside from putting in some new spark plugs? I've heard of syncing the throttle bodies, how exactly do I do that and what does it do?

Re: f4i running weird...

Ok so I just read up on syncing throttle bodies:
http://cbrworld.net/forums/thread/248431.aspx

What cylinder is the reference cylinder for the f4i, and is there any other notes I need to know?

Also, I have a CA ECU with a 49 states harness. Would putting on a 49 states ECU help anything besides my damn FI light from staying on?

I told myself the problem?

I searched around on here and read plugs/throttle bodies, just seeing if it could be anything else.

Take your bitter bullshit elsewhere.

tape off one side of the air box, run the idle cable to correct spot, not stock spot, and change out your fuel pressure regulator, u need a carb synch tool to synch throttle bodies or two yard sticks, some 80w oil and clear tubing for the mcgiver synch tool

I'm gonna pick up some vacuum guages today. I was reading about the fuel pressure regulator, but my bike doesn't seem to be having the extreme symptoms people who replaced theirs were having. It's just the lack of ability to power it up when it falls below the balance point at idle speeds that is driving me crazy.

Re: f4i running weird...

ok well check ur air filter, run stock slip-on, tape off one side of your air box, replace the fuel pressure reg. any ways cause it maybe going bad. and run the idle adj cable to the good spot and it should be 10x better. also might help if u get the 02 sensor tricker thing cause cali model has 02 sensor correct? it will run rich if it gets false signals which will cause low end bogg..

vac gauges don't matter.. u need actual synch tool.. since every ajustment affects more then 1 throttle body at a time.

I have a 49 states wiring harness, haha, so none of that **** is connected and my FI light is always on. That's why I was thinking I should probably put on a 49 states ecu as well?

Re: f4i running weird...

cali models have two different things, 02 sensor i think and evap seliniod i am sure and well one of those may be the prob... try installing a non emission control ecu (49 state) and see if it changes

Cool. My bike has had the 49 states harness on for a LONG time. Long before this whole bogging issue came up. Just thought it might help a bit.
