Re: cbr600rr tank

I dented my metal tank first then used a heat gun, heavy gloves, and a small rubber mallet to use the round edge to push down and hold the plastic down after its heated. The tank cover will stay where you press it to once it cools.

Re: cbr600rr tank

he kinda liquified the metal.. That's dangerous btw if any leaks through your gas tank will explode.. even fuel fumes will ignite ..

But if you know what you're doing it's no problem

Re: cbr600rr tank

Skateboard grip tape, stomppad, jetski pad,all sorts of different options....

But denting the tank is fire. Just dent the metal tank like you would a regular tank then heat the plastic cover with a heat gun, put on and start shaping it. Go slow with it and it will look great!

I got a junk 905 cage........that thing has seen better days for sure!!!!

the sprocket is from geared steel products.......I went one LARGER in the front and to get the gearing I had before (-2/+13) I had to go with a 70 tooth rear (70 tooth)!!!!!!!!!! Looks huge as hell, but the front sprocket makes it really smooth, virtually no vibration, almost like its not even running!

My tank doesn't actually have any grip tape on it, I had a dent on just the top only with grip tape, worked fine with DB bars, but when I swapped to clip-ons the dent wasn't far enough back.......so I dented the metal tank farther, and had to reheat the cover....boiled all the paint on top and left a rough surface. I've been meaning to glass it and maek it smooth, but it works too good this way!

And for the guy from belgium, read above, I dented the metal tank with a rubber mallet until it was perfect, then heated and pressed the plastic cover down to match the metal tank. Its not hard to do, just take ur time with it and it'll look good. I rushed mine the second time and thats why the surface was rougher, that and I had to press out the lip and create another one farther back.

when we are talking about gas, fumes are the ones that are dangerous, that will ignite first, not the gas...
