Seat Stander to Spreader Help

i've been workin on seat stander for a while now and have them down really good as well as flamingos, i also can do good preaders, i just got my new stunt tank so i'm gettin ready to try the SS to Spreader just lookin for maybe a few points on what to do n what not to do for a first time try.

i did it on a wheelie machine at a stunt show and did it perfect 3 times on a 954 with really low gearing.

First of all..wheelie machines..hahaha...might as well learn to wheelie on a hobby horse!

Do a SS, whip it back deep into engine brake, jump and compensate...

If yerrrrr real tall, bend your knees before you jump. If you're short...just farkin do it because everything is easy as hell if you're short, lol!

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

for starting it helped if i bent my knee's til my crotch was close to the gas tank allready (liek i was moving in to hump it lol) then id make sure im pretty far back in the bp and not useing much gas.. then i do the jump, and get back on the gas as needed to keep it up.
before you know it you can do the jump and not have to pick up much speed

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

thanx guys, actually i went out today for a bit with my new dentewd tank and gave it a shot, first try i busted my nuts on the tank but i was in 2nd and throttle was twichy and i didn't wanna loop it, then i started doin um in 3rd just to get the feel for it but it kept making the front fall back to the ground, so eventually i got the nuts to do it again in 2nd was just spending a few minutes gettin used to it but i did one perfectly, the front end barely dropped at all and i carried the spreader prety far, tried to go back to a seat stander but the front dropped when i tried that. i'm pumped to do it first try with no HB to save me if i go up to high. thanx again the rest is all just practice :YEAH

Wow, third gear. Are you geared at all? Definately don't want to fall going that fast.

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

i'm not geared down much -1+1 thats it and i do all my combos in 2nd and 3rd, deffinately gonna have a hand brake before i even get out again in the spring, much smoother doing things at speed though than i would be barely movin

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

i would not be doing anything off peg in 3rd gear without a handbrake or without being + 10 up. i understand that the throttle isnt as choppy in 3rd gear, but what are you going to do when it goes back to far and you have no brake, or engine brake to save it? not trying to be a jerk but that might get you in some trouble. be safe bro!

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

guess its all in the throttle control and the confidence man, i have no medical insurance if i do happen to go down so either way i'd be fucked but i dont worry about it at all really, i do normal standups in 3rd for over 2 miles and never touch my rear brake just use the R's to keep me at BP. I know what ya mean tho, i'm jumpin up in the rear from a 49 to a 54 and i'm already -1 in front that should slow me down quite a bit, i have a lot more confidence doing things at speed than i do goin slow and with a brand new bike i'm a little nervous to slow down too much, haven't been down yet and don't want to ruin my bike completely but its inevitable i know. Just got my GPR, gettin FI clip ons, Handbrake and lower gearing as soon as i get my taxes back. ***** gonna get crazy pretty soon. i'm a street stunter and twisty rider 100% not really into the really slow lot stuff, theres no rush or danger in that!!

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

throttle control is fine when your doing 3rd gear hywy wheelies. i was talking about your combo's. if you are in a seat stander in 3rd gear with no gearing or handbrake, and you start doing combos it might go bad. good choice to go with some more gearing and a handbrake, im sure you will like it better.

Re: Seat Stander to Spreader Help

yeah deffinately man i'm lookin forward to gettin the handbrake and gearin on to slow down a lil bit. right now i do 2nd gear standups to SS to flamingo then jump to spreader all at about 50MPH it looks badass but i'll feel a lil better when i'm goin a lil slower and have the handbrake just in case.

i was neve really all about not doin the handbrake i have wanted one on for a while now just waitin on tax money to come back and i'm doin it all at once. i can't wait. your setup looks good man
