Stoppie help

So im just getting into stunting now, and I was just wondering. Im trying to do stoppies (not rolling, coming to a stop), and everytime Im about to do it my front tire slides. The thing is, I can do it on the sidewalk no problem, but when it comes to asphalt, it slides. I got new tires installed not to long ago and still same problem. Maybe Its cause im in Canada and the whether is like 2 degrees celsius which results in shitty traction? Is there any product I can buy to put on my tire to create better gripping?
Thanks in advance.

Im in Maine I know what you mean. Thats because your tires are not gripping the asphalt. When summer rolls around you will find a huge difference. The only thing you can do now is wait. I know it sucks I just put my bike up this weekend.

Re: Stoppie help

Yes, when it gets cold you lose traction and when it gets down below 5degrees celcius water is getting reddy to freeze or if its warming up there could be some hidden frost "black ice" or other variables that are very small but make a big difference. That and rubber is softer when it is warmed up and the softer rubber grips better. Hence the reason drag racers do burnouts before they race.

Re: Stoppie help

So would losing a few psi in the front make my grip better at all?

Re: Stoppie help

be ligth on the bars, dont put much presion try to use your legs to stay in the tank like doing a rollin bournout but do it feeling confortable, another advise, dont see the bike see the ground, also a damper could help to avoid scary dampery

Re: Stoppie help

don't listen to anyone.......just keep sliding them until you lay it down on the bike's side, curse, kick your kick, and swear to never try again........trust me, its better than getting an endo addiction and eventually flipping one over on yourself!

get goin about 35-40 roll competly off the gas and bounce a lil on the seat and move weight forward as your SQUEEZING the break.. do not grab it or you will lock up the front tire... just practice with bringing the rear tire off the ground a little bit ( im talkin a couple of inches a foot max) for a bit till you get comfortable

Well you had a bald D207 with threads showing, what did you expect? You had a **** tire(D207) for stoppies to begin with and it was beyond blad Of coarse its gonna slide in this weather! And the tire I sold you was a decent tire but not for stoppies, sure alot of experienced people can use them and roll really good but I hate Bridgestones for stoppies.....I use Pilot powers and in this weather they need to be warmed a little, but in the summer I roll stoppies at the end of my street seconds after takin the bike out.....

Your going to need to heat that Bridgestone I sold you pretty good in this weather to get good traction, otherwise its just as bad as the 207 hockey puck you had on there

Not sure how cold it actually is up there but I will roll them out in like 35 degree weather all the time right out of the truck.. no warm up at all. We also have little endo comps when it starts raining to see who has the touch

Really not all that hard to pull it up once you get the hang of it. I would say definetly either you are using way way too much brake or your not shifting your weight.

Sounds like your not shifting your weight to me. You actually need to be off the seat a little bit and kind of pulling the bike up with your legs.. if that makes sense. Just go out and flip about 25 times.. spend a lot of money on hospital bills and then you will have it all figured out.:YEAH

Whats the difference between squeezing and grabbing?? Do I apply the brake quick or more of a smooth apply.
