Re: scrape help

hmmm, im not sure what you mean exactly, but since im on a mission to answer everyones questions tonight, ill try to answer. you probably want to use 2nd for this, get a wheelie up to the bp or slightly behind it and pull in the clutch. you should slowly fall back, apply gentle rear brake if you come back towards the bp you used too much brake. use such a slight amount of brake you only come back a tiny bit, until you hear a loud scraping noise, then give it a healthy amount of rear brake to come back down below bp and release clutch and give gas so you dont come down hard as ****.

Re: scrape help

well 2nd is smoother and you have more speed to slow it down slowly and get a more controlled scrape. but by all means learn what you feel comfortable with.
but on a side note, i would work on coasters and idle wheelies to get more comfortable with the bike, then scrapes will come easy.

Re: scrape help

Work on long, smooth coasters.... then just let em come back a little further each time till ya gently touch.

Re: scrape help

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't try scraping without learning coasters first... there's alot of control there that you need to be familiar w/.

Are you already slowing wheelies down w/ steady throttle and riding the brake?

If not... learn that first.

After you can slow one down to almost a stall.... then get some speed, get back to just before you start to slow (bp), then give a blip of throttle and pull in the clutch as you feather the brake so ya don't loop.

Ya wanna keep it a little behind balance point so it dosen't slam down.

for coasters yeah...

get it up and gain speed. get alot of speed. coasters are easier fast. get it right at bp...that sweet spot. pull the clutch in and coast. keep foot on brake.ride it behind bp. at first youll ride them way behind bp and slow down real quick but its all practice. if you fall to far back use rb to get it back into that sweet spot. gotta be good with the brake.

coasters will help your footbrake skills alot. once you get good with it scraping on brake will be nothing.

Re: scrape help

yeah I can slow wheelies down alright in first I don't really ride the brake though just taps I can't slow them to a stall yet. I've tried to grab the clutch but I think I'm going way to slow because it only stays at that sweet sot for a second

k lemme reprase it...

when u do a coaster when u pull in the clutch the bike should fall backward. if you didnt get on brake youd scrape.

i think going slow isnt your problem i think you werent far back enough on the clutch pull.

k...do a fast 1st gear wheelie...get the bike to start slowing down...in other words get it behind bp. pull in clutch mean while slightly ride brake. i cant really explain it an better. i guess i just feel it.

Re: scrape help

don't pull the clutch in when in bp, do it little behind, it's safer because if you do it in bp and mess with brake you'll slam down, and I doubt that you'll let the clutch out...as far as your slowing it down you can pull in the clutch safely...

Re: scrape help

I just learned dragging on the 12 bar and I would definately suggest learning coasters first. Once you got coasters then scraping will be nothing.
