We picked up a 03 F4I for $500 the guy tryed to hotwire it and it wold not start and thought the bike was ****ed up {it has a resister in the key and wont start if you hotwre it}I got a new key and it runs like a Champ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:YEAH

That dam resistor. Mine went last week, but luckily I had another key set around.....

its all 929/954/f4i.

There are four wires runnin into the key ignition. If you try to hot wire it, or try to wire it up so that it runs without an ignition, the fuel pump won't prime because of this resistor in the ignition.

But they are also known to fail, so that the fuel pump won't prime. Mine went last week, the fuel pump wouldn't prime. I plugged in my spare key ignition, and it worked.

 

u just put in a diff key.. or a diff ignition?

 

A entire key and ignition set.

I now have a "dummy" key in the normal ignition area, but the one that works is down near the air box.

Its good cuz now I don't have to worry about kicking the bike off when I learn to jump through.
