i tried wheelie today but not that easy.

well today was the first day that i have ever tried to wheelie and might i say it was pretty unproductive. i tried to clutch it up but the highest i got was about 4 inches, i know pretty pathetic. i dropped the tire pressure to about 20 and tried the 1st method of clutchin from the sticky, pull in clutch while throttle is still open then dump it. anyway i tried sittin further back and thats prolly the only reason i got it up the 4 inches. i'm in first gear doing bout 15mph round 4K, pull it in and dump it round 6k or so it was hard to look and see but all i got was the bike lunging forward. i don't know if i'm rev'ing to slow or just to p***y to hammer it hard enough. any one have any feed back on what i should try next time would help a lot. i tried to keep my arms straight as well but nothing, also tested the staggered positon but didnt feel comfortable at all.

i would keep the bike how it is, no messing with tire pressure or staggering stance. just go for it and try to ride a wheelie for a good distance.

Re: i tried wheelie today but not that easy.

start sitting down, that way you have less pressure on your hands and you can use your hands better.. sit back, pull it in, rev it up let the clutch out but stay on the throttle. when i was learning i would get scared and let off the throttle and it just lunged forward. once you get your timing down it will become natural.

Re: i tried wheelie today but not that easy.

i was in 1st gear the whole time. i think i might be letting off the throttle like mentioned. another problem i might have is gradually twisting the throttle open instead of twisting quick and hard. i guess wit time i'll get it.

Yo from watching mana and friends around here in Hawaii, when releasing the clutch, you have to still be twisting the throttle open(but not too much). Basically, I try to invision the back wheel catching up to the front wheel. Think about what you have to do to get that to happen. just my .02

Re: i tried wheelie today but not that easy.

try this.. go in 2nd about 45-55 with the same throttle (dont let off or give more) squeeze the clutch in and out real fast with one or two fingers. the bike should come up and play with it from there. cover the rear brake in case you feel like its comeing to high.. if you have problems try positioning you butt a lil bit back in the seat. if that doesnt work then try more speed(rpms).... good luck..

I'ld do just like you were, but increase your speed and rpms to like 20mph, and clutch it at about 8-9 grand. It's all mental, if your scared to throw it up to bp right off the bat, it won't happen. Cover that rear brake and DO it!

after learning bp on the fiddy I had long standups on the big bike on the first day trying....so if you can learn on a fiddy klx110 ect... it does transfer up to the street..

Hey man if you are serious about this then you will understand that it takes time.. You should be happy with 4 inches on your first day. It takes most stunters years of practice to get where they are. Honestly take your time and it will come. Cover the brake and take baby steps and with time it will come!!

Re: i tried wheelie today but not that easy.

You just have to dedicate yourself and practice. It took my three days (2 hours each day) to finally get to the point of riding them out, this was using 2nd gear at about 40 mph staggered using clutch. After the first day, I just did not think I had it in me, but during the 3rd session, I knew it was only a matter of time.

I also think it will help if you can ride with someone that can do them. If you just stay at it and keep practicing, it will come. Dont wait until next season...get them down now so you can be ready to move on to something new next season. :YEAH
