During a whoolie, no less

So i was out riding tonight, attempting spreaders....was in my 2nd hour, brought her up, and as i was about to throw my legs out....CLUNK ! chain broke. so i had a nice meeting with my tank and some how didnt lose the bike. pulled over, looked down, and there was my chain, dragging behind me. im guessing the chain jumped off the front sprocket and got stuck between the sprocket and the casing?? anyway, the chain's stuck and wont come out, and im too tired to *** with it tonight...

on to my question...what size chains do you all run? figured sense im gonna need a new chain, might as well ask around to see which size, type, etc is suggested

Sh*t bro, that really sucks..... I'd do a 520 conversion, but try to match your sprocket sizes. The 520 will come with new chain and two new sprockets, now would be the time to add or subtract teeth as needed.

Don't do a 520 chain as someone suggested, its weaker and the sprockets will wear faster.Stock chain on a 900 should be a 525.And when you work on getting the chain out of there make sure it didn't break the engine case our bend the shaft the sprocket rides on.

Re: During a whoolie, no less

520 sprockets are smaller in thickness right?Less material=faster wear.Just my opinion and experience. Not looking to have a battle about it though so

Re: During a whoolie, no less

520 is for race tracks or +20 gearing, stay with 525 steel and a good chain, your going to need to buy a Cir clip link for the chain also cause u don't sound very mechanicly inclinded so make sure to get a MASTER CIR CLIP link with your chain.

ps: steel sprockets are cheaper and last alot longer, so search sprocket specialist for a good set of steel sprockets

Dude was lucky the chain didn't smash his gearbox and wheels. Had that happen to a mate of mine.

I reckon you should go for the 520 conversion and maybe look at a RK racing chain (that's what I use).

i know...all i keep hearing are horror stories of the chain wrapping up on the back wheel and sprocket and just f**** up the rider, good ! the casing around the front sprocket gt a nice chunk taken out of it, but nothing too important or bad, so im pretty happy with the way things went...minus the fact i stil cant get the damn chain out
