Oh ya, gsxr subrame, haha

Well i am very aware that gsxr subframes are weak. I am just starting to set up my bike for stunting and thought of a good idea to brace it up, at least i think its a good idea, will soon see.

So, if a put a steel flat bar from the 12 bar to the swingarm pivot, then theres no way to brake the subframe right? It also doesn't look like it would hurt the frame but am i wrong? Anyone out there have any experience with bracing it this way?

NOw i wonder why everyone doesn't do that then if it works so well. I can start to make my support bar now. I can't wait to scrape tail.

Re: Oh ya, gsxr subrame, haha

I stunted the 01-03 gsxr for 2 years. When I retired the bike, I had no tabs left (top or bottum) and had replaced the subframe several times. If I was starting again, I would reinforce the subframe with steel. I had steel strap Iron bolted to the frame to replace tabs, and a long piece running from the 12 bart to the FI cage. Sorry I don't have pics. It was ugly, and heavy, butr I made it through.

my opinion is that, you want the machine to be strong, so that you are a stunter, not a mechanic. But you also don't want to expect your bike to be indestructable, if you crash it, it will brake.

I use a MXD undertail bar with the subframe support bars. Works great.

i don't expect it to be bullet proof, but its not much work. The steel cost me 10 bucks and that includes stell for the 12 bar. i have another subrame but why not make this one almost unbreakable.

Re: Oh ya, gsxr subrame, haha

ps i had to bend the bars to reshape them as the go all the way back to the 12 bar. required some time and patience to get it to look decent.

you will also go through some bits drilling through 1/4" still.
