Balance point question.
Balance point question.
I've been practicing stand-ups and sit-downs. I have an 04 GSXR 1000. Everytime I hit balance point doing stand-ups, the rear tire wobbles.
I tried bringing it up close to balance point and creep up on it, but the rear wheel just starts wobbling and I have to bring it back down. Any points?
BTW, I installed a pick up after reading your guys post.
You guys rock.

+1.....and the tire doesn't have a flat spot in the middle, does it? the condition of the tire is important
Re: Balance point question.
Nope, no flat spot. I read the post about tire pressure. I dropped it to 28, then 25. Works good @ 25 psi for sit-downs. Any recommendations on tires make and models? Right now I got a Pirelli Diablo 190 rear tire.
I was talking to one of my friends and he thinks I have to be more smooth with the throttle when it's that high.

I had a feeling about that. It feels like I chop it a little, the front drops out of balance and then I give it a little too much. Thanks guys. I'll try again this coming weekend.

I have the same year gix and yeah, you're right about being smooth on the throttle....as far as tires go I prefer Michelin Pilot Power on the gix....nice n' sticky
Re: Balance point question.
do you have you left foot on the rear peg if so try to almost lock your leg out because I had that prob and I was pretty much hanging behind the bike and one of my friends told me to try to lock out and it opened up a totaly new balance point

Should I try leaning back locking my arms and legs? Or is my body position alright?
Re: Balance point question.
go staggerd and clutch it straight to the bp because you loose so much by chaseing it I cant tell by your pic but a cage save more money than it costs ive got an 04 600 and I fell in love with powers cage I recemend them for the gixxers

the reason you start to wobble is probably becasue you let off the throttle.

) and slack throttle, I guess I'm slacking a little too much. How's about installing a hand brake, or should I keep learning with the right foot brake? I'm also thinking of making a write up on installing my Stuntex oil pick up. Came in Monday from Stuntme.com. Has anybody done that?
Re: Balance point question.
its easy to install to pick up tube just take of you cage side plastics and you exhaust and drop the pan take out the 2 10mm bolts that hold the factory one on and than put it all back together I got mine in last friday and tonight my motor started Knockin like a **** I guess I waited to long to get one so if you know were I can get a motor at decent price for an 04-05 gixxer 600 let me know O and on the hand brake its not a bad idea but I would get idle on the foot brake first but thats your call
