bought an 01 f4i been trying to get together. im blowing smoke out of the exaust and wondering what its from. its a gray smoke and usually doesnt come out till i open the throttle up pretty good. i just replaced the plugs and they were real black. i was maybe thinking the bike is running very rich. and i dont know what to adjust the "idle" adjuster too. which way leans it which way richens it? also my fuel injection light is blinking on and off and at one point when i was trying to adjust the "idle" the motor started kinda knocking and then i shut it off and tried to start it again and it didnt want to start for a bit seemed like it was flooded, although idk how that could be on a fi bike. sorry if this is confusing but this is my first honda and dont really know what the hell im doing. any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

is there a power commander or anything on it? they usually run real smooth, what code is it throwing? there is a way to jump a harness and it'll show the code on the gauges.. that'll tell u everything

 

no power commander on it, its not giving a code just fi light blinks on and off every like 4 seconds or something like that.

 

search on here for the way to trick it into diagnostic mode.. that'll tell u

 

theres a small 2 wire plug by the battery cant remember exactly where but some one on here knows but ya you stick in a piece of wire to jump in to dealer mode then when you turn the key on the fi will blink you want to count how many blinks it is then you go get a manual and look it up, it will tell you exactly whats wrong hope this helps some.

 

^ exactly! it's the black plug that has no connector.. it's upto you to figure out hwere the wire goes!

 

yes thats it its black you just make a little u with a piece of wire and stick each end in the two holes

 

turn the key on and count the number of blinks before you try to start it up and i will get you the code

k when i turned the key on it blinked some that i didnt really catch then when i turned on the on switch it was blinking a constant
1 pause 2 pause 9 it repeated that sequence over and over

 

you can do it as many times as u want, make sure it's correct.. but that means code 92

codes 1 2 and 9 apparently the map sensor and the iat sensor?? idk when i open up the throttle it pauses real hard at like 2500 rpms before it continues?? any idea on that??

 

it is the map and iat sensor both on the airbox make sure they are both plugged in and the vacum is hooked uo to the map sensor. that should cure your bog

 

i checked em and the connectors were all clean and tight vacuum hose is on and still hesitating real hard at 2500 rpms. maybe the senors are bad?? where could i get new ones?

just get the new sensor at the shop.. you install it smarty pants

 

got the lights to go off. had to reset the mil thing bla bla bla still gettin hesitation when i pull fullthrottle and smoke darker the heavier i open the throttle
