Stoppie Problem
Never attempted stoppies until my Going Away Bash.... so like two weeks ago and I love the feeling but sometimes I'm having trouble.... I'll pull in the clutch, grip the tank with my knees and grab a handful of front brake while bouncing but it's a 50/50 chance of it gripping, otherwise it breaks loose and scares the **** out of me.
What exactly am I doing wrong and can you give me any advice... I'd just like to get my technique down -- It's all in my mind at least I think so get it up, let off, and then keep pumping the brake to get it going further... At least I think that's how it works?
Thank you

Re: Stoppie Problem
First make sure you're practicing on a clean surface and that your tire is warm.
Pull in the clutch, progressively squeeze the brakes so that the fork compresses down. Once the fork compresses down, shift your weight forward letting your *** come an inch off the seat, do this as you are giving a bit more brake pressure and keep your weight forward. Tire should grip and voila.

Re: Stoppie Problem
I'll try that tommorow Woo... It's supposed to be hot as hell
I heard a key to warming up is to drag your front brakes while rolling straight, is this true or just some bullshit? Also John Legion took some air out of tires cause if I remember correctly, dont quote on me on it but something along the lines of less tire pressure helped it grab better on crappy road surfraces but if it's a good surface than I should just boot is to 28 pounds? Higher pressure = More Grip?

yea supercorsa,, but make sure you dont pick up one that has beed ridin hard.. to many heat cycles on a race tire and it turns more slippery then the shittiest street tire you have ever riddin on.. So if you have the corsa's on and they are slipping, time to get a new one.. otherwise that tire gives me so much confidence.. Almost never skids at any speed.. hell you can bring it up in a little rain even. Just always throw a little heat in them first before you start..

Re: Stoppie Problem
Okay so I practed them today and it's a little better with the technique and lower tire pressure but they still wash out, it has got to be the tire.... It's 105 deegrees out so I know them tires are baking hot, hell it hurts to touch them.

There is more but if it's that hot and you have semi good form it will start comming up, as you work the break hard and feel the pressure as you roll you adjust the brake pressure ever soo slightly!... There is more but just some to think about.....
It was Rick Nasty and Digidy who started me, and I still learn more every day as I get better and roll further, as you get more comfortable and smoother picking up the rear, the higher and higher you get the further you will roll and more control you have.
When you start learning them you quickly develop resoect for those who roll BP stoppies for ever like Bill D, Britton, Ryan, Gorka Ect who are awesome!
Good Luck!

Re: Stoppie Problem
Make sure to preload the shocks. Gently squeeze front brake let go and wait for the shock to rebound and then start to compress. Once that happens grab your hand full and it will pop up no matter where your *** is.
Better to grab less the first time. You go too far and only God can save you... Good Luck
