Effects of rasing F4i frontend?

Does anyone know what would the effects be on normal riding and stoppies if I raised my stock f4i triple clamps on the forks and put aftermarket clip-ons below the top triple clamp? Would it get more head shakes or less?

Raising the front end will add trail. The bike will be more stable and the front end will have better grip overall. It will also have less tendency to head shake.

You will have to push the bars harder to turn the bike. But you will get used to it.

Make changes a couple mm at a time.

Re: Effects of rasing F4i frontend?

I'll try that thanks. Also I read a thread about f4i stoppies and Teach or Matt Gorka posted something about dropping the front end. Was this to make it easier to get the bike to come up faster to bp on stoppies or was there another reason?

Not dropping the front end, dropping the forks in the triple. Read the post above yours.....

I shot you the PM for your address....I assumed you just got busy or forgot about it.

Nags, first fill the tubes with sand. Not just any sand, but Ft. Lauderdale beach sand. This also acts as a secret ballast.
Also, Aunt Jemima is a "top secret" fork oil replacement. You didn't hear it from me.
A technical term called "taking it to the grip" refers to proper brake lever positioning.

glad this came up.
what about raising the forks in the triples. I want to try running the clipons on top of the triple. how much is this going to have a negative effect on stoppies?

if you did that on my bike.....causes the forks to bottom out real fast...INTO THE LOWER TRIPLES.....but I have non-inverted forks..............if you got inverted forks you may be ok, but I'm sure it would do the opposite of what Mr.Gorka was suggesting in order for the front end to be better for endoes!

did this on my bike after hearing you tal about it........got the fullthrottleinc triple and DB bars.......lowered about a 1/4" down in the triples.......never go back from there! UBER-SWEET for rolling endoes.....not so sweet when you flip one though

600rr responds pretty good to that...I got the bottoms of the caps flush with the top of the triple.

Re: Effects of rasing F4i frontend?

I guess I'll just slide the forks up and see how bad it gets, if it's too bad I'll put it back to stock.

Re: Effects of rasing F4i frontend?

Where are y'all putting them with stock f4i front ends? Tops of forks even with the clipons or what?

try it there.....or even try it where the forks are sunk down into the clip-ons about an eigth inch........whatever feels best to you is gonna work the best to you..........mine kept getting better and better until I had the tops of my forks sunk between 1/8" and 1/4" down into the triple on my RR......

....didn't feel quite as good when a lil higher or a lil lower, found the perfect spot!
