How do you ride wheelies straight?

Me and my buddy have the same problem. We always drift to the right whenever riding wheelies. I did the whole lower the pressure in the back tire (20 psi). I guess what I'm asking is how do you turn?

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

make sure your rear axel is square in the bike. Lots of people crook the wheel while adjusting the chain.

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

how high are your wheelies...you riding power wheelies?, because its damn near impossible to turn a wheelie that isnt near the balance point. but once you get up there and smooth on the throttle all it requires is a little body english and youll be turning...

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

you may be putting more weight on right peg, and when you lean left to straighten it you push yourself against right peg, therefore putting even more preassure on it, which causes it to steer...

I'm sure I'm riding the balance point because I'm not gaining any speed, and I quit doing power wheelies since I learned to clutch it. I just hate having to bring the bike down because I'm about to hit a curb or I'm drifting into the next lane on the road. I know I'd be able to ride out wheelies for miles if I could just stay straight. I do put a lot of pressure on my right peg because I want to make sure I'm covering the brake. Maybe put more pressure on the left? I just thought it was weird that me and the guy I ride with drift in the same direction.

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

1. A lot of roads are crowned, for rain purposes
2. Make sure you have decent rear tire, if you do a lot of burnouts it will be worn down on one side.
3. Make sure you adjusters are even on both sides for the chain.
4. Make sure you body position is even, more you practice the easier it will be.

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

are you doing sit downs?

riding sit downs for miles..... wtf?

If you wanna ride AND steer a long wheelie i'd suggest doing stand-ups for sure...

I can ride a stand up around about any corner... it only took like 2 days of practicing to master steering once I mastered Balance point..

the only thing I can think of is you are not standing up...

I do almost all my stand-ups in the staggered position... even if the road is slanted as hell and it's windy i can steer where i want...

1. Stand up
2. try staggered or a variation
3. put some body english into it

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

The only yime I ever had a problem with the bike not wanting to go straight was when I had a crappy tire, if your back tire is bad it sucks. I also run about 28-30 pounds on the streets and that helps alot.

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

i can ride sit downs for a distance no problem. only on crowned roads does it get squirrely. all i do is sitt my but to the side i wanna go, sometimes i lean hard but that is sometimes. i rarely do standups, so i caint give any imput there.

Re: How do you ride wheelies straight?

i had this problem for so long it was alot to do with the slant in the road but it was also me. i just keeped doing it. and i got better with keepin it straight. still sometimes it will still drift to the side of the road so i gotta put it down. some roads are shitty. just keep practicing. and also what everyone else has been sayin

Me too, they were uncontrollable. That was, until, i bought a 636 with a circle wheelie button. Now all my woes are gone.
