Re: catching idle

maybe one day ill make a trip out there with some of my friends and we can all tear up the streets, i would definetly like to see what u can do in person, although that video is good. until then, can i ask u to explain to me, step by step, how u do what u did in the video? mainly just curiousity, but ur responding so quickly that i might as well ask while ur paying attention haha, if u dont mind at least, i would appreciate it.

ya, iv been riding for a few years, wheeling ever since I got my license. 3-5 is the best gears for me to wheelie in, I can usually find BP quickest and I love fast wheelies. Pretty much I turned my idle up to about 3.5 grand but when the bike is in gear it stays at like 2.2k RPM's. I go like 3-6 mph and pull in the clutch and tap the brake. As soon as I feel the bike start to slow from me hitting the brake I turn my throttle a quarter turn and let go of the clutch and keep the throttle right where it is. Than you can see from the vid I blurp it once or twice and than constantly add more throttle to keep it up. The entire time (since I’m new) i am concentrating on keeping pressure on my left leg and my body in the middle of the bike, or off to the right side a tad to compensate. Took me a wile to learn that the bike will only go straight if you are high enough, so I’m always concentrating on that right now, once I get that down ill be able to focus more on keeping the front end up. Practice Practice Practice...

problem is, 1st is so short that it's got so much torque it'll easily over power the brake. so i'm trying them in 2nd (can't pop it from a dead stop)

i'll give it a shot tho....

Re: catching idle

can i do that all without turning the throttle up? and what exactly is the point of doing that? if not, how do i turn the throttle up on my bike? i wasnt aware that i was able to, without at least taking the tank off, which im kinda lazy to do.

Re: catching idle

staggard, you dont need to turn up the idle but it helps keep the bike steady goin slow.

Re: catching idle

thanks for all the help, its suposed to be real nice tomorrow so i will have to try a small one. ive never wheelied that slow, so we will see. it might be a bit difficult since im on stock gearing, but there is only one way to find out. also i know i wont get it as high as u do, but practice makes perfect (close at least)

and 2nd is too long....

i'm getting a +1 sprocket up front, so maybe that'll make 1st long enough so that i can still have some speed without having the bike pull so damn hard

fiddies have a auto clutch, thus when you ride the brake hard enough, the motor RPM slows down so much that the auto clutch automattically slipps for you.

therefore, it's damn near impossible to stall a fiddy out with the brake. much easier on a fiddy for sure. the hundo is kickin my *** tho

Re: catching idle

yeah, schooler told me the 150's first a longer than the hundo, so that's why i'm going +1......hope it makes a difference .

also, sometimes when i hit the brake real hard trying idle, i can feel the chain/rear linkage sorta jump. i've noticed my chain is a lil loose, think that could cause it?
