probably one of the stupidest comments on here. Why wouldn't you want to practice those. Those are what made my beginning to stunting the best!

Definitely a huge crown pleaser! and those tricks are always used still today in events and all over the place.

Just Like Scott said:
Learn the Christ! you'll love it and be a god in your local town. Huge Crown pleaser! and Vaggina wetter.

Re: Basic Stunts For Newbs ??

This thread is a little old, but to whomever still monitoring it:

I ride a 2003 GSX-R1000.. I'm VERY new at wheelies, and I cannot seem to get the front wheel up.. I have tried roll-ons, first gear at 5000rpm, still won't work.. do I need to crank the throttle suddenly, or would easing on it pop the wheel up, too?

I'm not that familiar with 'popping the clutch' either.. although I have read some of the help threads around the forum.. I'm just scared that I'm going to pop it too high and flip it.. do I always pull the clutch ALL the way in?

Should I get a crash cage just in case? I have a real nice bike, and I really don't want to wreck it. [Maybe I shouldn't be stunting on it in the first place?]

Agree, the key word is Master!!!!
I started on a new VTR1000F in '03 didn't want to bin it but got to be doing OK stundups/sitdowns/nac nacs/flamingos/cancans/etc
but it wasn't till i got a 98 blade and didn't really care bout trashin it that I pushed it and got better at it!
I cant afford to buy parts for my bike everyweek, but its so much fun I'm willing to risk it and practice!! :YEAH
No matter how good you are, it takes time and practice, find someone to ride with and be patient!

Agreed.. Stoppies are so addicting. If your tire is slipping lower your PSI in the front some but i wouldn't go too high without a damper. All in all just take your time. There's no rush

rolling burnouts take about 5 minutes to learn and are addicting like crack. another 15 minutes you'll be circling them.
theyre pretty safe as long as you cover the clutch, and always lean way forward, and dont release the brake

Re: Basic Stunts For Newbs ??

I really don't want to be a "stunter"..can't really afford all the replacement parts, but I do want to be able to get my front wheel off the ground and hold it there for 30-40 feet..

I can't get this clutch-slipping thing down. The other night I tried it.. and a couple times I got the RPMs so high that when I let the clutch out, I could feel the rear wheel burning out under me [I was going about 30mph].. but why didn't the wheel come up at all? With a GSX-R1000, I know my bike has enough power to do it easily.. even roll-on wheelies, which I can't get either.

When I pull in the clutch ALL the way.. get the RPMs up.. do I just release the clutch all at once? Or slowly let it out for the transmission to engage?

I've seen a couple videos on it, but can't get a good enough look to see what the hands are doing.

Re: Basic Stunts For Newbs ??

I am attempting to learn how to wheelie. If you've read any of my posts, that should become apparent. I don't want to learn how to do 100 tricks on the bike, which is why I said I didn't want to be a stunter.

If you aren't interested in helping anyone learn, then why are YOU here?

Man you should be able to just roll on the throttle and it will come up. I could do that with my 636. I'll accelerate to like 25 then go completely off the gas and immediately wack it open and it will come up.

Doing a wheelie is stunting. You said you just want to learn do like 40ft. I guarantee you that once you get it up and ride it a bit.. You'll want to go further and further...

Re: Basic Stunts For Newbs ??

basic stunts, huh,
---just try coming up to a red light and not putting your feet down, keep your bike balanced moving very slow or completely stopped
that is something you can practice on every road and not get yelled at about it and helps to gain better control to you and your bike

---the christ is good, but before you do that just get used to putting it in neutral and letting go of the handle bars, keep your *** in the seat and just let go. Start at like 50 or something and see how far you can go before you get the wobble feel, then grab the bars, and do it over and over till you get the feel of things and advance when you feel ready!

--- endo's /stoppies, just take your time dont try to go way up, just do small ones, and dont put your feet down after doing them, and definitely dont use the back brake while doing them, just use the front
till you can roll them very, very far.
give some gas then hit the brake, first try at 15 mph then at 20 then at 25 then 30 and then once you feel more comfortable try one at 50 but put it down at around 20 and get back up to 50 and do it again

everything is about repition just relax and try and do it at your own pace
don't give yourself a certain time limit to learn in
just practice or u can alway get a video camera and tape others instead of doing the tricks, you will help make others look better
