My Learning to Wheelie Thread

B4 Anyone starts tellin me to hit the search button, Ive done lots of wheelie research b4 ive posted. But basicly I have a 2000 CBR 600 F4, that I am learning to stunt on. Ive been riding for about 3 years and have never really ****ed around with wheelies, the most ive done was bring her up about 3 inches.Probly because ive always been to ***** to think of dropping my bike, but now its getting old and im getting bored of basic riding so who cares. So I started this thread to keep track of my progress, and also to get help from some of the stutners on the site,it sucks being new to stunting and not knowing any local stunters to teach ya, so i guess this site is all i have for now. With all that said i guess ill start the thread.BTW im on stock gearing for now

Ive read all the diff methods of learning to wheelie, the power wheelie in first the clutch in first and second.yada yada yda

I was wondering what the best method for learning is. I guess Id feel better going slower speads, but i hear clutching first is risky for newbs like myself. well im gona b practicing hard tmoorrow since we got nice weather on the way, so i guess any pointers will help. tomorrow will b the first day im reallyu gona try and get this ***** up on one.

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

clutching is the best way to learn man more controled just start small like at 3 grand work your way up till u find what rpm u need to bring the bike up. just dont drop it at like 8 grand and u should be right

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

if you have local stunters, go ride with them and let them help you...that's probably the most efficient way of learning...way better than keyboard stunting.

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

Hey smoke,
I'm in the same boat. I've been clutching. Setting my idle at about 3grand and practicing my coordination with cluting nice and slow, just getting used to the response. Been busting my a$$ but it's fun. I've been going with a friend of mine who's been stunting for a little over a year. It helps having someone else there to give you advice. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CAGE!

dude just leave it at 1 u only need to put it up to rock balance piont wheelies just learn to get them up first. this way if your going to far and dont have back break control as a reflex u can just chop the throtel of and it will save u

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

don't turn your idle up to learn how to do wheelies cause you will loop since you don't have brake control yet...

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

dont turn the idle up, learn to rock the throttle nice and smooth. get used to riding the brake. and start poppin them up slowly, it will take time but you will start getting higher and higher, then getting them to roll out. if possible have some one tape you or take pictures, because you will always think you are higher then you are. when you see pictures you realize how far you really have to go.

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

Well, after a good hr at my spot. Ive got 1st gear power wheelies preety decent. I tried ****ing around with clutching but didnt get the front end to come up, and since i had more sucess wit powering i just stuck with that for the day. Im not getting them high or long at all, however I can get the front wheel off the ground everytime wich is a big improvement for me. haha. I was wondering if you guys have any tips for me for getting these 1st gear power wheelies higher and longer. I totaly am starting to understand the feel for the throttle for wheelies, i dont have a good view of my tach cuz of my streefighter front, but i can deff start feeling the part of the rpm powerband that brings the bike up wich is good. Now I just wana work on holding them and getting the front up more, any tips ? Also Ive heard b4 that I should not be pulling the bars, however i do catch myself doing this when getting on open throttle to help get the bike up ? is this bad ?, thanks in advanced

Re: My Learning to Wheelie Thread

just keep doin what feels comfortable... i learned powerin it up in 1st, just be smooth with the throttle and dont give it a big handful once the wheel is up. once you get good tho move on to 2nd and use the clutch, you have more control comes up quicker blah blah blah
