-1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
What gear do most of you use when rocking the slow ones with the huge sprockets? Circles, seat standers, etc.???
Done it all with the fast ones and need to slow them down a bit. Rockin' an 04 R1 -1 +20 Heading out this weekend to practice and this one tip would way help

Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
thats a **** ton of gearing on an 04 r1..those things are snappy stock..gearing doenst help you go slow..gearing adds engine brake and makes it harder to stall..id learn to slow wheelies down and get on idle with stock gears..then gear it
Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
while you're on ebay i would go ahead and get some fork seals, couple of front wheels, and some new underwear for when you're trying those slow wheelies as you call it

Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
Seriuosly, lower ur tire pressure and learn some throttle control and 2 use that rear brake. slow down first then really think about jumping up 20 on a R1. wow thats not highly recomended unless u feel. looking at ur avatar makes me think ur still stuck on "Fly-By" wheelies. 20+...WOOWWW?????

OMFG
+20 on an R1
K changed the lame avatar of like the first wheelie I ever did on my bike.
Not what I was hoping to hear but most of it good advice. I thought the engine braking with the huge sprocket would make it easier NOT to loop it.
Practiced all last summer on a quad (I know, it's a quad and way easier) and have the brake mastered. It's stock and can go forever and as slow as I want which is where I want (all brake) to be on my bike. Why the R1? Bought it, saw this crazy -ss slow sh-t and it blew me away and don't want to part with it, no $$$ for a crunchy. It is what it is.
Let's try another dumb--ss question. The real trick to the slow ones is the brake, throttle control (I'm there) and in my opinion (which obviousy sucks) getting verticle as fast or quickly as possible and tapping the brake. Correct? (Not to mention hand brake, wider clip-on's (or dirtbike bars), tire pressure, and big-*** ***** help (those I do have and have not f'd up any underf'nwear yet FHL)).
So why the f did I get this huge sprocket I see all over every freakin' stunt video???
Working on my new plan..............................
You guys ****!

2) yeah you'r right, but you don't need any more gearing until you start with technical tricks - even then it's not must have, I do almost everything on stock geared 600...it's harder but doable...I don't know your skill level but if you think you need gearing go with it, just don't get too crazy like +20 cuz 180 hp with +20 will be out of control for you no matter what you think...

Again, the R1 STAYS!!2) Skill level: Dirtbikes growing up, street bikes last 15 years (How old am I? Doesn't matter as I'm not normal anyway) and have lived for wheelies all my life! I'm like obsessed with them so I need to figure this sh-t out. The last 3 years on my R1 doing mostly highway stand-ups and fairly close to balance point. Yes I've crashed on it and not a problem. Pretty good at that too.
I too am sure I could do this stock but can't imagine it not being EASIER with the big sprocket just because it seems almost impossible to loop it for 2 reasons. One engine braking and secondly even if Im not perfect on the throttle and because powerband range is so short common sense tells me that it would be more forgiving.
I also have a -1 +5 kit that sounds like a better place to start but d-mn I'm having a hard time convincing myself that the large one isn't really where I want to be.
Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
i have a 2000 gsxr 750 and i'm also trying slow wheelies with my stock sprockets.. but it's difficult ... but i never gonna give up... i'm gonna wait till my wheeliebar and crashcage arrives and then i'm going for it .. gonna lower the pressure of the tire a little bit and keep practicing .. before ihad a 2005 R1 also but it's so damn fast even in 1e gear... to much power... so i selled the bike for a 2006 Suzuki gsxr 1000 and a 2000 gsxr 750 for stuntriding..you should do the same thing man...

As long as it looks like we stunt, thats all that counts.
Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
You f'n guys listen about as well as my 3 ex wives!!!!
My R1 is set-up for stunts and not starting all over. And can't go stock, 1st gear on an R1 is like 3rd gear (ok maybe 2nd gear) on anything else.
Still going through this plan in my head for the weekend..... -1 +20 or -1 +5?

Re: -1 +20 What gear to rock the slow ones?
the first time you send that bike down the road its gonna empty your pockets..thats if you can even pay it then, any bike can be wheelied but its not a good stuntbike, all -1 +20 is gonna do is make you look like an idiot when you cant even do a slow wheelie and are mobbin around with a huge sprocket..that bike is perfectly stuntable stock to an extent, but when you get to the point your dropping it its not gonna work out..then your gonna be stock with an expensive bike torn to hell that no one will buy.

go -1+5, you've got NO IDEA what you've gotten yourself into with that +20 on a liter bike.....
