is it possible to change out your first gear in your tranny so that you have the same ratio when you are in 1st with stock sprockets as you would have with a geared up bike
that way you could rock parking lots in 1st and still have a stock hwy bike 2nd-6th

i dont know really how to word this but you get the point

 

I think about this all the time, it would be the greatest thing ever.

Once tried to put first gear from an f3 in a 900rr transmission, I think the output shaft's were different diameters

 

well i can get a gear made thats not the problem
i would just have to know the size

the only thing i was thinking was that the actual gear would be bigger and it may not fit into the cases

you can get them made? dude do you realize the $$ potential there?

find a blown motor for cheap and take the bottom off, thats the only way you'll be able to know for sure about fitting problems

you could do it but to be honist there might be a streingth issue. also you need to remember this your bike will only rev so much. trying to put a new first gear in combined with even a 5 up rear sprokit you will not even notice a difference. you might only lower your rpms about 1500. also remember you dont want the first gear bigger you want it smaller and if you go smaller you will get rid of all the torq in first. best thing to do is just stick with what you got its all about math if you get it wrong eeven the slightest it will cause problems

i tried to get him to scrape and he did the head nod no no

i was like wtf dude theres nobody around we're on a straight *** road.
thats why i'm not gettin poser gear.. maybe a cage but i think sliders will do

hyperryder i just had the thought and im far from a mechanic so i figured i would ask the question for those that may know
guess ill stick with what i got

 

couldnt you just make 6th gear longer...like an over drive..would kick *** for geared bikes commuting

 

ya im telling you man its a very complex thing to do and has to be well thought out. if you did do it its almost better to just change the whoe tranny with new gearing but then it will get ride of you torq you will never win in the battle agenst sprokits.

 

I know people that race on tracks and some of them change complete tranny setup according to track itself...I think this is a good idea about 1st gear but hard to do it propertly with such ratios between first and other gears...

changing first gear alone would be almost impossible cause modern sportbikes use stacked gearboxs. wich means when you canges gears some of the same gears used for one gear are also used for another

for example....in gixxers the second and sixth gears use the same internal gears

good thought and I think if some one had the time and money it could be done

 

sport has went so far in them few years..lol
