highsiding scrapes
highsiding scrapes
sometimes when im scrapin the bar my bike will get squirily cousing me to let go of it and it will fall right on its side hard. sometimes i can save it by stablizing it with my right leg till its parked on the bar. but other times i cant. and other times it will stay nice and straight on the bar. my bar is even i was thinkin maybe different spots on the road are cousing this or is it something im doin? does this happen to anyone else?
Re: highsiding scrapes
if im goin fast on the bar (not really fast but like 10mph) i will ride the brake but the bike will still start to turn on its own when i feel it start to turn i put my foot down to try to keep it stable and keep it from highsiding. but it will turn halfway around cousing me to let it go or ill fall right on the bike. u know what i mean?
thanks for ur help mike.

Re: highsiding scrapes
There was some useful stuff in the 12s thread, the bike is more stable if there's more weight on the bar, so short 12 bars make for better scrapes than long 12-bars.
The other thing is more practice, build up to the long scrapes with a few hours doing shorter ones, get used to how the bike feels when its starting to go out of line, and get it back down before it gets worse. This way you get used to compensating for the slightest side-to-side movements and it starts to become reflex (like when you where learning to keep wheeliest straight, back in the day).

I never scrape under 15mph though
Re: highsiding scrapes
what psi are you running your rear tire at?
when I started to 12 I got bad wobbles, I was at 27 psi, dropped it to 19 and it helped a LOT. also, the road I was practicing on had a crown to it, so the left side of the bar would always drag first. almost every road has a crown though, try to find one that is flat. I tried wheelieing in the opposite lane but i was so used to fighting the crown to the left that as soon as I brought the front up I went SHOOSHOOOSHOOOOOOTING off to the left
